A Day In New Erebus - Festival of The Lost

In case you didn't know, I've scrapped the Realms of Insanity. Got tired of thinking about life, the universe, and everything else inside the realms. So now there's planet Roia. ;D Just before the realms were destroyed, all the inhabitants died a brutal and bloody death. Once Maraha regained her sanity (for once in her lifetime, :P) and created Roia, she made a mini-malurien for anyone who may be visiting from the original Malurien. Plus, it's a very popular vacation spot, for obvious reasons. XD New Erebus, quite unlike the original, was a bright and vibrant land, almost distracting one from the fact that it's little more than a huge graveyard.

Which is where this story will be taking place.

New Erebus is watched over by several norns and grenorns, such as Mleyer the half-borg, Malicious Maun the incredibly irritable norn, and a few others. But one thing they all have in common, they have an upside-down blue teardrop mark somewhere on their body. Mleyer's is on the back of his neck, and Maun's is on his left cheek, but for the others, they try to keep it hidden. Another thing they have in common is they have a silver cylindrical earring on their left ears.

But the true ruler of New Erebus is a total mystery, the Duke of The Dead, whom is never seen except on one special event that happens every year...

The Festival of The Lost

Probably the most anticipated day of the year, when the living are allowed in New Erebus to speak with their 'dead' friends and family*. But what many come for is the chance to meet the Duke of The Dead, and ask him a question. That's what Rein plans to do, to meet him and learn about his father's somewhat hidden past.

*Somewhere in Roia is a lab filled with chips of data, each chip containing the 'data' of one sentient being. During the festival every chip seems to glitch, causing ghost-like copies of the beings on the chips to appear at their graves in New Erebus.

Alright! So thousands of people are camping out at the border of New Erebus, it's night and everyone is eagerly anticipating the day of the festival. Your characters can be anything (except giant 6-headed skeletal serpants of hades, none of those please) Hands, ettins, lombaxes... you get the point. Visitors from Malurien are more than welcome, of course. ;D *Nudges Drac* Hinthintdannyhintjakhintdrachint...

Looks: Classic brown striped yellow Lombax. Short, spiky yellow hair, diagonal brown stripes on his ears, bright blue eyes, an upside down blue teardrop on his left cheek, and a long-sleeved white shirt with green overalls. Oh, not to forget his favorite muddy leather boots. ('Cause overalls are delicious)
Personality: Playful and overflowing with curiousity, he wants to know everything there is to know about bugs, and his grenornish father, Aaron. He's always sweet and polite, when he's not too busy studying a new bug he found in his pillow. :P
Other notes: Was adopted by Aaron when he was just a toddler, he was found in some strange ruins off in some forest near Aaron's castle.

Name: Contra Dikshon
Age: 2064-or so years.
Gender: Female
Race: Norn
Origin/Homeworld: The world of Shadowsbane, in the Realms of Insanity, lives in Malurien now, though.
Looks: Basically like this but with what looks like sparkling transparent blue pearl earrings, very sparkly. Oh, and one of those pretty strapless red dresses, mmm, strapless... And not to forget the little metal bucket necklace thing! Cute wittle bucket, too...
Personality: Intelligent, and quite sane (believe it or not), she enjoys being in the company of her friends. She's not to sensitive on the subject of death like a certain friend of her's, but she wouldn't speak about it unless necessary.
Other notes (optional): Somewhat good with small healing spells, and excellent when it comes to lighting a dark cave. :P

Personality: Determined, Brave, and a good fighter, but seems prone to hopelessness.
Other notes (optional): Sora once spent some time as a Heartless, but was brought back by his friend Kairi, who was the reason he became a Heartless in the first place (and who is also going to be left out of this RP).
His weapon is referred to as the Keyblade. Resembling a large key mixed with a sword, it is one of the few weapons capable of damaging Heartless. It is capable of unlocking most locks, and opening pathways between worlds.

Looks: Purple blue, with lightning bolts on side of face.
Personality: She's a very sudden person, who will quickly talk about something completly different from what everyone else is saying. She is also quick to anger.
Other notes (optional): KC11 doesn't realize that, in a short time (whenever DM2 starts) she will die. Ultimatly, she will be sent to a different dimension, yet keep her same name and some general features. She has two friends, Demi and Jest. They will also follow her into the other dimension (try to figure out who they are in the other dimension. )

[Draconorn]

Name: Draconorn Thorns-Without-a -Rose Grim (she hasn't married Jak yet)
Age: 5002 (roughly)
Gender: Female
Race: Shape-Shifter
Origin/Homeworld: Imperial Albia was her original world, but she now watches over her new world Malurien.
Looks: Depends on her form :3
Personality: Extremely over protective from her powerful maternal instincts, she'd throw herself off the top of a tower if one of her friends was in trouble at the bottom. She can be quite unpredictable and explosive, but she's truly a kind soul.

Gender: Male
Race: Jungle elf
Origin/Homeworld: Malurien
Looks: Tall and slight but quite broad-shouldered and muscular. He has a mess of long-ish green/blonde hair, icy blue eyes and he usually has a grim, carefully guarded expression.
Personality: If you don't know him too well you'd think he's reckless, always angry and not a nice person, but he actually has a sensitive side. True, he has a very short fuse but he's normally cool headed and gets a;ong with most people quite well.
Other notes (optional): Ambidexterous... and he usually has to keep Draconorn out of trouble XD

Name: Daniel Fenton, or just Danny
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Human/Ghost
Origin/Homeworld: Malurien
Looks: Maybe a teeny bit taller than average height for a fourteen year old, because he's already partly dead he doesn't age and still looks the same as usual. He has a spiky mess of black hair, deep blue eyes and he's quite skinny. He has no idea that he's quite good looking for his age XD
Personality: Normally friendly, cheerful, talkative and outgoing, but if you make him mad he can be surprisingly brutal and bloodthirsty.
Other notes (optional): Don't talk about the difference between living and dead things around him. He gets offended by it since he's half dead and has no heartbeat.

"Sir, is everything ready for the festival?" Asked a voice hidden in the shadows. For a moment there is silence, until another, deeper voice responded; "Yes. Tomorrow, there are no secrets." Footsteps could be heard, the owner of the first voice seemed to have left.

"No secrets..." The second voice whispered to himself.

Meanwhile, one could see a chubby moogle practically tearing apart a large blue tent in search of something. "Yo, Rein! Where'd you put our snacks?" It shouted. Rein, who was just admiring a Ladybug on a flower, looked behind him at the Moogle in the tent. "They're in the blue cooler, Remy." He said. Remy shook his head and glared at Rein. "It's nothing but spam! Spam spam, turkey spam, I'm sick of spam!"

Rein facepalmed, that's what he gets for letting a spam-obsessed friend pack the snacks. "Spam sandwiches aren't that bad," Rein said, standing and approaching the angry, hungy Remy. "Just scramble some eggs, add some cheese, fry the spam, salt it like there's no tomorrow... really, my dad used to make them all the time. Cheap breakfast, but tasty." Remy raised a brow and looked up at Rein. "Wasn't your dad a Duke or something? Royalty? Why weren't you guys feasting apon lobster or wild boar, or venison, or turkey... You know, big, expensive stuff?" Rein shrugged. "We were given a three year supply of spam as a gift, we didn't want it to go to waste. Besides, we don't need big fancy meals, dad despised leftovers, anyway."

Remy sighed and stepped outside for a while. "The stars before the festival always make me feel depressed, for some reason. What about you?" He asked, looking back at Rein. Rein just grinned and stepped over to Remy and gazed up at the stars. For a moment, his eyes glowed red, but quickly reverted to their original blue color. "The stars are inspiring to me, they're full of mystery, and all that jazz. You know? The castle astronomer taught me a little about the stars, but not much. Just theories about black holes, magnetic solar storm things, you know, those kinds of things."

Remy nodded. "Whatever. I'm going to get some sleep, the Festival is only a day long, I wanna get there early and leave late, you know? I've got stories to tell to my cousin over there in New Erebus." He explained as he walked back into the tent to set up his sleeping bag.

Rein continued to gaze at the stars, they were almost as fascinating to him as insects, which was really saying something.

(Eh, not the best, but whatever. New Mortmarium is still somewhat gloomy, but there is a bit of greenery on the border. There are hundreds of tents and campfires, even a few bonfires made by some over-enthusiastic pokemon. Most of the people are sleeping or eating their supper, or writing down a list of questions to ask their lost ones, or double-checking their list to make sure everything is in order. :P Well, I guess the RP is officially started?)

[KC11]

KC11 sat outside her tent, watching the dying embers of the fire. The fire was reflected in her eyeballs, and it almost seemed as if her eyes were on fire. She sighed. She couldn't get to sleep.

She heard a rustling in the tent, and a bengel tiger came out. The bengel looked like a normal tiger in general respects. However, he looked rather skinny. The fur that puffed out on a normal tiger's face was simply not there, and the tiger wore glasses. He looked, in all ways, as majestic as a weed.

The tiger sat down on the other side of the fire and said "KC, it's about time you went to bed. What's wrong?"

KC11 sighed, then said "Well, I've been thinking, Jest, and I've realised that I don't know what to ask my deceased friends and family."

Jest sighed, then said "Just ask them how they are doing! Ask them for advice! That sort of thing."

"But..... there's something I want to know from my dead sister, yet I don't exactly think she would be willing to answer me." said KC.

Jest sighed. He knew exactly what question KC wanted to ask her dead sister, KC2.

"Look." said Jest. "One of these days, you WILL meet your father. I mean, it's like in one of those fairy tales, you know? Kid never knows her father, and then she becomes best freinds with an elderly gentelman, only to find out he's her father!"

"But life is not a fairy tale!" Yelled KC11. "Most likely, my father is dead!"

KC11 sighed and resumed staring at the fire. Jest stared too. After a while of this, Jest said "Well, you'd better come in and sleep anyway. If you don't, all your dead relatives will hear is gibberish."

KC smiled, then went inside. The fire slowly died down and after a while, it went out.

Personality: Goofy lives up to his name. Often fools around, but is honerable.

Sora stood outside his group's tent, standing up with his hands folded behind his head.

Things in Kingdom Hearts could be finally left alone for a little while. The Organization wasn't up to anything (or so it seemed, can't trust them), and most of the worlds were able to handle the Heartless on their own.

Therefore, at Goofy's suggestion the group took a little break, granted to them by King Mickey.

Sora wanted to head for Atlantica, as that was the most peaceful area of Kingdom Hearts, but Goofy and Donald thought otherwise.

They had heard tell of a special event called the "Festival of the Lost", where the ancestors of the inhabitants of the area of New Erebus rose from the dead. Sounded scary.

Because this area was out of Kingdom Hearts, Sora naturally got concerned about Kairi, but Donald had assured him (or at least tried to), that everything would be okay while they were gone.

He had no other option except to run with it, and before he knew it, here they were, in what looked like a bigger and more colorful version of Halloween Town's graveyard.

"Sora!" came Donald's voice from inside their tent.

"Hm?" Sora asked, turning around.

"We've no idea of what's going on! We need to head out and ask someone when this festival is!" responded Donald.

Sora nodded.

"What else do we need to do?" he asked.

[Draconorn]

Danny gazed gloomily around him from the tent door, before making a small angry noise and disappearing inside. "Memories memories memories, more goddamned memories." His mutinous mutterings could still be heard by Jak and Draconorn, sitting beside their campfire.
Draconorn sighed. "He never seems happy anymore... I wonder why?"
Jak shrugged. "Why're we even here anyway?"
"Maraha invited us, it's not like I'd say no. She's an age old friend of mine, you didn't have to come if you didn't want to."
Jak grinned impishly. "Oh come on, you didn't expect me to just stay behind?"
"Still..." Draconorn murmured, looking back towards the tent. "... I'm worried about Danny."

Rein shivered as a cold breeze blew through, that's when he decided to go back to the tent to get some shut-eye. The moon shone brightly over New Malurien, beautiful and untinted silver moonlight covered the tombstones in the distance, beyond the invisible barrier guarding New Erebus.

As Rein drifted off into sleep, he heard a soft, familiar voice speak; 'Goodnight, Rein...'

And at that, he was out like a light.

(Hmm, I suppose it should be morning soon, then? I can never decide the time in RPs... ._.

[Sfot]

((*Is screaming in annoyance* I FINISH THE PROFILES, WENT OFF TO EAT AND WHEN I COME BACK THE DAMN COMPUTER HAD RESTARTED. I'll join when my rage for the lost profiles has subsided.))

[Draconorn]

After a bit of sitting and staring at nothing in paryicular, Jak stood up, snuffed out the fire with a Latin word and went into the tent.
Draconorn followed, but not efore using her phone to take a photo of the moon. It was very pretty tonight.
Danny looked up from his iPod when his two friends entered the tent. "I just needed music to calm me down, I feel better." He said, mostly truthfully.
Draconorn smiled and hugged him before trotting over to her bed, curled up on it and fellasleep within seconds/
Jak sat in a chair and started polishing one of his knives, since he couldn't sleep, while Danny turned off his iPod, settled down and finally dozed off.

[Grendel Man]

At the group's tent, the entrance flap opened, and out walked Donald, carrying his typical staff.

"Come on! It's getting dark!" he yelled into the tent.

Sora poked his head out.

"Why can't we just wait until morning? I'm tired." he said.

"Sora's got a point. We should get some rest." added Goofy.

Donald scowled.

"I said we-" he began. It was about this time that Sora grabbed his leg and pulled him back into the tent.

[KC11]

It was dark outside KC's tent. Not a sound could be heard.

Except for the sudden crash and someone saying "Ow! Drat it".

The said noise had come from outside the tent. The silloet of a creature could be seen in the darkness. It walked up to the pile of sticks.

"Flaira." said the creature, and the sticks were alight with flame.

The creature could now be seen. It looked like a dragon, but was much smaller, about the size of a large dog. This dragon wasn't a hatchling. It was known as a dracolich, a type of miniature dragon.

Her name was Demi.

Demi had black scales, red eyes, and horns on the back of her head that pointed down instead of up. She was well trained in magic...... and mischif.

Demi looked around, then picked up an alighted stick. Cackeling (difficult when you have a stick in your mouth) she rose up in the air and muttered a command. The fire on the rest of the sticks went out. Demi then soared off, fire stick in mouth. She had some unfinished buisness with a town that had thrown sticks and stones at her.

(Please tell me you aren't causing trouble elsewhere in New Malurien without Mister Mischief's permission. XD While Demi is off wherever, everyone who's anyone will be chatting with their lost ones, just to let you know. Don't worry, things will get more interesting eventually, no need to cause trouble, ey?)

(Nah, Demi's not going anywhere in Malurien. She's off to Aug' Naugthn, which can be accessed from anywhere. So no need to worry about any of Malurien's towns going up in flames. XD)

Looks: Cream coloured fur with toffee highlights around her ears and pompom. Transparent wings. A white fluffly tail. Dark brown eyes. Wearing a dull blue t-shirt and brown shorts.
Personality: Shy, smart and sympathetic
Other notes: She likes chocolate and desperately wants to have a friend.

Age: 5050-ish

Race: Banshee/Shapeshifter Corpse
Origin/Homeworld: Over There
Looks: Sfot is tall, pale and has black hair. Sfot has blood red eyes and normally wears a trenchcoat that changes colour depending on what she wants it to look like, a red tank-top and black pants.
Personality: Sfot is a strange peroson who can have unpredicable moodswings. After being piled under a stressful week her mind will sort of snap and for an hour or so she'll have the mindset of a small child. Seems nasty at first, but once you get to know her you'll understnad it's just Sfot being Sfot.
Other notes (optional): Sfot never uncoveres her arms. Ever. She's also Mistress of Over There, so she can open up portals between where she is and her realm.

Race: Ghost
Origin/Homeworld: Over There
Looks: Fibre has pale, almost grey/white skin. Her hair is made of Fibre-Optic wires, and comes to around shoulder height, with her eyes are a pale grey. Her shirt, trousers and shoes are all white.
Personality: Fibre is kind, almost gentle until she needs to use force. She takes to some stranges well and not so well with others.
Other notes (optional): Fibre has to keep an eye on Sfot in case she reverts to her 'child' mindstate. The rest of the time she loves getting out and either chatting with people or playing with her tech. Possibly the only person at the festival who needs to lug along a car engine for a reason I'm not actully sure about...

(Alright, since thing's have been going pretty slow, it's morning now. )

"Rise an' shine, mister 'get up early, leave late'!" Rein said as he shook Remy until he got up. "Today's the day! The gates will open in a few minutes, let's go!" Rein snatched his notebook and pencil that was lying beside his sleeping bag and ran out of the tent. Remy looked around groggily, before changing into his day clothes and stumbling after Rein. When Rein and Remy got to the gates, they could see dozens of other people already up, but one of them caught their eyes... "Hey, Rein! I haven't seen you in ages!" Contra ran up to Rein and gave him a great big bear hug, squeezing the life out of him. "H-HI, CONT-TRA..." He gasped. Contra let him go before turning around to see a couple of odd looking norns approach the crowd from the other side of the gate.

They were both tall, one was red with a half-skeletal tail and jagged scars all over. He had the mark of the damned on his left cheek, and the silver cylindrical earring on his right ear, meaning whatever evil that was supposed to happen to him already has. He seemed to be completely blind in his left eye, and always had an angry look on his scarred face. Beside him was a pure-white borg-grenorn, wearing a white everything, white trenchcoat, white pants, white boots, etc. The only thing that wasn't white on his outfit was the gold trim on his trenchcoat. His left arm was robotic, along with his left eye. His hair was short and spikey, and his gold eyes seemed full of sorrow. He took a step ahead of the red norn and began to speak (loudly) to the crowd. "I am Mleyer, and this is my fellow gatekeeper Mal-Maun. We work for the Duke of the Dead, and we will until this planet is no more. We are the gatekeepers, as I'm sure some of you already know."

"Enough blabbing, Mleyer, let's just let them through." Mal-Maun hissed, tired of Mleyer's monotony. "Just be patient, Mal-Maun." Mleyer whispered back. "Before we open the gates, which, as you can, or cannot see, are invisible, I must remind you all of the rules, the laws of New Erebus."

The crowd watched and listened, despite their eagerness to get through. Rein looked at Contra with a cheerful expression on his face. "Are you going to say hi to Aaron, too?" He asked. Contra nodded. "Yes. He and a few of my patients which were beyond my help..." She said softly, almost too softly for Rein to hear. Rein looked away, but then turned to look up at the Gatekeepers again. "...and there will be no TP-ing the statues! I am so sick of having to rip TP from the statue of Birdie, she was a brave warrior and you should show some respect! If anyone is caught making a mess anywhere in New Erebus, they will be punished severely." Mal-Maun shouted for all the crowd to hear.

"Anyway, enough talk, we will now open the gates." Mleyer said, a bit too casually for Mal-Maun's tastes. Mleyer took a long red ribbon from one of his many pockets and held it up with both hands as a pair of scissors materialized in Mal-Maun's hands. The crowd giggled as Mal-Maun glared at them. "Stop your incessant giggling! This is a very serious moment." He souted indignantly before finally snipping the ribbon in half with the sharp scissors. Mleyer stuffed the two halves of ribbon in his pocket before announcing; "Alright, gate's open, you can all enter now." And at that, both the Gatekeepers walked off into the forest on the beautiful white stone road.

The crowd cheered as they ran across the border, into the graveyard known as New Erebus. Rein and Contra looked at eachother, then behind them at the camp grounds. "I heard Drac, Jak, and Danny were invited, have you seen them yet?" Contra asked, Rein shrugged. "Haven't seen them. I didn't see them in the crowd, so maybe they're still at their tents?" Contra nodded. "Well I'll wait here for them, you go find your father, alright?" "Alright, see you later, Contra." Rein said as he walked away. He watched as the lost ones flickered like old holographic images, they were all blueish and somewhat transparent, but he didn't recognize any of them, so he continued down the road through the forest, eventually coming across a statue of a huge Taurant standing beside it's fallen foes. He looked up at it with awe, he'd never seen a Taurant before, there weren't any on Planet Roia, he heard they were only in Malurien. 'I'll go to Malurien one day, maybe I'll meet Draconorn or Symia or any of the other hands, that'd be great...' He thought, still walking along the stone road.

As the sun rose over the tent, warming it up inside, Donald awoke with a yawn.

"You were right, it was better to-Sora?" he said.

Goofy opened his eyes next and sat up.

"What about him?" he asked.

"Sora's not here!" Donald exclaimed. Goofy gasped.

"Gawrsh, then we gotta go search for him!" the dog exclaimed.

"Right!" responded Donald. Grabbing his staff, he darted out of the tent. Goofy grabbed his shield and followed suit.

Sora stood amongst the crowd, listening to Mleyer and Mal-Maun explain the rules of New Erebus, and the like.

It wasn't like that he thought there would be any heartless here, but for some reason he had taken out his keyblade. The hand holding it was shaking slightly.

The dead rising again? Sounds suspicious. he thought. Looking over his shoulder, he wondered if he should have waited for Donald and Goofy. They were probably worried sick about him!

And yet-he had a dream-something terrible was going to happen.

He was jostled out of his thoughts as the crowd suddenly rushed towards the now-open gates. Although he had no loved ones here, he followed them in.

[KC11]

KC11 awoke to the sounds of crashing and banging. She leaped up and grabbed a moving object.

"GOTCHA! Now than.... WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN MY STUFF?"

She had now grabbed the neck of a very small black dragon. It was Demi.

'I was....... looking around."

KC released Demi.

"Oh well. We have to get to the festivel! And quickly!"

KC morphed into a human, seeing as people might not be agreeable to a full blown dragon rushing through the gates, and she put on her cloak. Then she stopped, and looked at Demi.

"I thought you went off rampaging in Aug' Naughten?" asked KC.

"Wha.... how did you know?" asked Demi

"Even though you usually can't see them, I have ears Demi." said KC. "I heard you planning your attack a few days ago. So why weren't you there?"

"The Gate wouldn't let me in." said Demi.

"Hm. That's odd." said KC. The Gate usually let anyone in who knew the incantation and whoever spoke it exactly correctly. Demi knew the incatation, and she had never misspoke it. So why didn't it let her in?

"Oh well." said KC. She looked around. "I guess Jest left already, yes?"

"Yes." said Demi.

"Well, we'd better get going." and with that, KC ran off to the festible.
