"I'm going to hire some help Dante, you can't keep going on like this." L said, glancing back over his shoulder as he swiveled slowly in his favourite chair and reached for his coffee. "I don't need help, it's just a stupid curse." Dante replied gruffly, checking that his twin pistols Ebony and Ivory were loaded before storming over to the door of L's office. "A curse created by one of the most powerful demon warriors in history." L added, getting cream on his nose as he took a sip from his mug. Dante paused at the door, knuckles whitening as he gripped the doorknob. "My father made it, so he can fix it. I'm going to find him and tell him a thing or two about raising a family. I'll find him without help." At that he kicked the door open and left. L watched the end of his red trench coat whip around the corner and out of sight, then chuckled. Dante's bad moods were always amusing, because a few hours later he was perfectly happy again. After he'd had a few slices of pizza he wouldn't mind help so much. Smiling slightly, L pulled a piece of paper towards him, picked up his fountain pen and started to write his first letter to his first employee.

Ah, it looked it was going to be a fine day today. She could see no clouds in the sky, and birds gently sang their songs just outside her windows.
Despite the fact that the temperature was obviously warm enough for her to be comfortable without it, Idani grabbed a brown hoody and hastily put it on before opening the door and heading out to her mailbox.
On her way there, several people looked at her strangely, most likely wondering why the heck she was wearing a sweatshirt on a day like this. As she was used to such people, she mostly ignored them.
Besides the hoody, she was also wearing her usual outfit of blue jeans and a light, almost sky-blue tank top. On most days, she seemed to prefer tennis shoes or even hiking boots for footwear, but today she was wearing black flip-flops.
In comparison to the people around her, she looked almost ordinary - if it weren't for the sheathed dagger hanging off her right side, and her unusual, black/shiny blue hair color. These differences, however, were trival compared to what she was trying to hide under her hoody.
Reaching her destination, Idani opened the door to her mailbox, reached in, and pulled out several envelopes and the daily newspaper - and a rolled up sheet of paper.
Idani raised an eyebrow upon looking at the rolled-up paper. Now, who'd bother to send a letter like this, anyway?
Figuring it was worth a read (unlike everything else - most of them were bills, junk mail, etc.), and since she didn't have any other reason for being out today, she turned around and went back inside.
As she took the time to remove her hoody, just why she had it on in the first place became visible - a single wing, feathered and the same color as her hair, attached to her left shoulder. Idani never wanted to attract attention to herself by letting it hang loose - one, what was the point of having a single wing? Having them in pairs made more sense. Two, it was a grim reminder of what she had gone through, and she considered it the mark of a monster.
In here, where she was sure no one was watching, it was fine to let it hang in a more neutral and comfortable position, rather than have it tightly folded up like it was usually.
Once she had hung her sweatshirt up, Idani turned away and went upstairs to her room, where her desk was located. Up there, there was a little more privacy and comfort, and she could read this letter more or less in peace.

Fibre was, a normal, at the computers. The fact she was playing three games of solitaire at one wasn't all that unusual, all things considered.
What was unusual was the fact she'd just been hit by the letter her mum had thrown at her. Most of the things she got were via E-mail, so an actual letter...Most intriguing.
The games closed on their own as she checked it. It wasn't from any of the worlds in Over There, at any rate.

((Danny's bit copied and pasted from the story... I'm lazy <_< ) Danny shut the door behind him and glanced around his room, noting how different it looked at night. His chair sat hunched before his desk like some sort of creature. The curtains drifted gently in the summer breeze from the slightly open windows. The moonlight gave everything an eerie air. Danny wasn’t particularly bothered, being a creature of the night himself. He had just arrived home, wearing normal clothes and his hands cleaned of bloodstains during a cleansing ritual at the temple of Valefor. The only thing that hinted at the fact that a serial killer had just died because of him was that he was up and about at one in the morning, when fourteen-year-old boys were supposed to be asleep. Glancing around cautiously, Danny made absolutely sure that he was alone before heading over to the pinboard above his desk. He grabbed the edge of it and slid it sideways, revealing that underneath the pinned up posters of racing cars and dragons there was something more sinister. Several pieces of paper were stuck on the surface beneath the sliding panel, one of which was a list of names. Danny selected a red marker and crossed off one of the names, adding to those that were already marked in red. He was startled by a tapping at the window and quickly slammed the sliding pinboard back into place before going to see who the culprit was. A plump grey pigeon was sitting contentedly on his windowsill, knocking on the glass with its claws. A rolled up letter was clamped in its beak. Danny slid the window open and the pigeon hopped inside, dropping the letter on his desk and pecking at the breadcrumbs scattered on it from yesterday’s breakfast. “Thanks. Now, uh… you didn’t see that okay?” The pigeon cooed complacently and took off through the window, leaving Danny to slam it shut and draw the curtains. Danny picked up his letter and unrolled it, quickly reading it through. Dear Daniel Fenton I have heard you are a talented assassin and stealth agent, and through my contacts in Malurien Military Intelligence I managed to get this to you. I am interested in hiring you for an important case, being a detective myself. I will meet with you this Wednesday at exactly three in the afternoon, at your place of residence, to discuss this matter. With regards,
LDanny put the letter aside, thinking hard. The job sounded interesting enough, what he wanted to know how this ‘L’ person found out where he lived and what he did for a job after dark. And who had L for a name anyway? Deciding to tell Draconorn and Jak in the morning, he threw himself on his bed and went straight to sleep. ------- Karawan crossed his arms and gazed at the pile on his bed, thinking. The pile included all of his personal belongings, which didn't amount to much. A laptop, several changes of clothing, a few guns... yeah, his life could pretty much fit on his bed. He picked up one of his pistols and fiddled with it for a few seconds, then started packing. It was time to move again. He never stayed in one place for long. Two or three weeks at most. Where would he go now? Malurien? Over There? Gallantere? The list was endless. Just as Karawan finished stuffing everything in his bag, a letter skidded under the door into his flat. Intrigued, he picked the letter up and read it through.

Fibre sighed as she looked at the sender's name. Whoever it was was trying to prove that they new her. They'd writen their name in binary.
01001100
L. Weird name, but the message itself was stranger. Somehow, they'd found were she lived and decided that meeting her there at twelve on Wednesday was a nice idea. Evidently, they didn't know that even her family got lost in the house.
She put it to one side and wrote another few lines of coding. She'd try and figure out why somebody wanted a 'expert with technoledgy' tommorow. When she wasn't playing solitaire.

Idani's eyes looked over the letter that she had recieved, wearing an expression halfway between serious and "Say what?"
Due to some strange reason not even she was able to figure out, the writer of this letter had figured out where the heck she lived, and planned on meeting her later on (by "later on", the letter meant 4 P.M. on Wednesday) to discuss an "important case."
Now, what could this "case" be? And why did this person want to speak with her? Most importantly - who the heck went with "L" for a name, anyway? Perhaps his (she assumed this "L" was a male) real name was embarrassing, and so he went with its first letter? However, she couldn't think of a name beginning with L that sounded ridiculous enough to make its owner want to hide it, except maybe "Loser." But if anything, that was a nickname, not a real name.
Throwing that idea aside, she settled on a more reasonable answer - in this letter, L said he was a detective. If he had stated his real name, there was a risk of his enemies recognizing him. So, what could be a better pseudonym than a one-letter name?
Better safe than sorry, she figured. Idani was half-tempted to write back, saying that she'd take the job, but only if this L told her why the heck he wanted to hire her for this job, and what this job was anyway. However, she decided against it - if his word was good, she'd find out when she came.
Throwing the letter aside for now, she hoped that L bothered to tell her why he was using L and not his real name.

"Demetris...."
"Then we should turn left here..."
"Demetris."
"Then again, this right here looks more promising."
"DEMETRIS!"
"What?"
"We're lost, aren't we?"
"No we aren't. We're just... momentarily detained."
In a generally unknown spot (and every land has one) three figures walked across the landscape. One of them was Sek, and the other two were Demetris and Jesten.
KC11 had decided to attend to some buisness dealing with warps and the like, and Demetris and Jesten couldn't come. So, naturally, she had dumped them on her dear witch friend, Sek.
Sek had decided to go on a little trip with Demetris and Jesten.
And she had made the mistake of believeing Demetris when she told her she was good with direction.
Sek sat down on a sand dune and glared at Demetris. She was about to tell her off when suddenly a pigeon pooped on her head.
Sek started dancing around in pure anger, not noticing that the pigeon had also dropped a letter behind her.
Demetris and Jesten rushed over to the letter. As Sek swore in the backround, they read the letter.
(sorry, short post of crapness)

Danny glanced around his new suite, complete with bedroom, office and bathroom. There was a four poster bed, a spa bath and a brand new computer, among other grand furnishings. How much money did L have to throw around? Especially since he worked alone... since Dannyhad been in this huge building, he hadn't seen another living soul. It was strange. Danny tossed the last of his gear onto his bed, intending to sort it out later, and walked through the door. He was in ghost form, having spent a lot of time floating around the ceiling to get a bird's eye view of his new accommodation. He would be here a long time by the sounds of it, so he might as well make himself at home. He was apparently supposed to go to L's office to meet the rest of the team, and just as he was thinking on how quite the place was he walked smack bam inot someone. "Oh, sorry." The someone said sheepishly, stepping to the side. "I guess I shouldn't stand in the way." He was a Dunmer, obvious from his grey skin and red eyes. "I'm Karawan, nice to meet you." "I'm Danny." Danny replied, smiling slightly. This Karawan guy seemed nice enough, so he decided to trust him. "You heading to L's office too?" Karawan grinned, walking alongside Danny as he continued on. "Everyone's supposed to... wherever everyone else is." "I was thinking the same. This place is so... empty."

Fibre had to admit, at first she'd thought she'd made a wrong turn somewhere. The place was disturbing in how much it must of cost. And there was some wierd room that she'd ended up at first. It had a bedroom and a workshop. She had a strange feeling it was hers.
But now she was walking across the ceiling to find some random office place that belonged to 'L'. It was not fun. Except...There was Danny, and some other guy on the floor. May as well go down and figure out where she was.
"Hey! Got any idea where we are, and where this office is?" She asked as she walked down a wall and waved.

"Haha, this is sure posh!"
Sek glared at Demetris as she started jumping up and down on the apparently expensive four poster bed.
"Will you get down? That's my bed, after all!"
"Who said it was your's?" asked Demetris, sticking out her tounge.
Sek then heard a crash, and rushed into the bathroom to find Jesten sitting amongst a pile of general bath instruments.
"JESTEN! Wha...."
"I was trying to reach the toothbrush." said Jesten. "And I got a lot more than I bargained for."
"Will you two just STOP IT?" yelled Sek. "We have to go meet this L person, whoever the hell he is."
Sek grabbed Jesten's arm and headed into the room, ready to grab Demetris. Demetris merely blew her a raspberry and flew away.
"I really hate this." said Sek. "I really do."
She held out her arm, pointing at Demetris, and muttered something. Two bands of darkness came out of her arm and tied themselves neatly around Demetris. But Demetris quickly stepped out of them.
"HAHA!" she yelled. "Don't you remember? I'm a Dark Element too! Those have no effect on me."
Sek grumbled, grabbed a vase, aimed, and threw it at Demetris's head.
A few minutes later, Sek was walking down the hall, a worried Jesten and unconsious Demetris in tow.
She saw three people at the end of the hall, and called out.
"Hey! You guys know the way to this L's office?"

Well, this wasn't certainly what she had been expecting when she came to L's office. Had Idani known that she was going to be living here for a while, she might have brought a few extra changes of clothes, and perhaps a few of her own bath implements. About the only thing she actually brought was the clothes on her back, and of course her hoody, which she happened to be wearing right now.
What was to be her quarters for the moment was expertly furnished, making her wonder if L was some sort of millionaire. If she were to try and make her home like this, she'd go broke. But he (most likely) worked alone - how'd he manage to get the money to get this stuff?
Bah, maybe she was worrying too much. Right now, she had to go find L's own office.
As she turned around, pushed the door to her room open, she couldn't help but notice - this place was unusually quiet. Well, except for maybe a bunch of clattering coming from next door.
At the doorway, she hesitated, looking back at her room for a few seconds - and caught sight of a shiny blue-black feather lying on the floor.
Oh great. she thought, The wing's moulting.
Of all the times for the annual molt to begin, it had to start now. Oh well, since her wing was currently folded up underneath her hoody, it wasn't going to attract immediate attention. But hiding the fallen feathers was whole other scenario.
For now, she grabbed the feather lying on the floor, and put it in her pocket, and then turned away and walked out, shutting the door behind her.
After studying her surroundings for a few moments, she slowly walked down the hallway, looking behind her every few seconds for any more feathers. Unknown to her, she was walking in the general direction of the group.

"Oh, hi Fibre." Danny said, turning to face the fellow ghost. "At least there's somebody here I know." "L's office is on the second floor, up the corridor from the stairs, fourth door on the right. It has a sign on it, you can't miss it." Karawan recited, beaming cheerfully. "How the heck did you know that?" Danny turned on him incredulously, switching back to his human form so he wasn't talking through a scarf. "I read the map in the entrance hall." Karawan shrugged. Danny fell silent, pouting. He knew he'd regret ignoring the map. He also knew that he was very likely to regret drawing a moustache on one of the statues in there sometime soon. Oh well.

"....What map?" Fibre had completly missed that. Probably because she was to busy wandering around on the ceiling. Ohwell. She actully knew somebody here, so she was more comfortable with the whole idea.
"Anyway...What did your letters say?" She couldn't help but ask as she fixed her hair abck in her normal ponytail.

"HELLO?" screamed Sek from where she was, irritated she was being ignored. She muttered a few words. A chair nearby began floating. She threw the chair in the general direction of the three figures.
"NO!" yelled Jesten, running towards the flying chair, trying to stop it.
(BTW, I'll allow the next few posters to take control of Jesten. Toss him in th way of the chair, whatnot.)

Celyna heard the chattering as she walked slowly down the hall, the map and her letter clutched in her hand. Frowning slightly she rounded the corner and came across Fibre, Danny and Karawan. "Who are you?" she asked stopping behind them.

"Yes, we did." Danny replied, slipping his hands into his pockets and regarding Celyna with his head tipped to the side. It was a cool, calculating look. "We apparently have to go to his office. Like, now." He glanced up the corridor to where Sek and Demetris were standing, and Jesten was running towards them. "Hm, I know you two. Don't know the third." Karawan turned to Fibre. "My letter wasn't all that interesting. Just said that L would meet me at my apartment. He almost missed me; I was going to move. I don't hang around in one place for long."
