Sailing Away Chapter One: Creaturesporidium
GM:
((Well, we've waited long enough for
this one - so now it's time to begin.
Unlike the previous, this starts out
in the port. Don't worry, we won't be
here long. So no plot twists!
*coughkccough*))
"All aboard!"
It was a fine day to begin a voyage.
The sun was shining high in the blue
sky, the seagulls were calling, and
the air was thick with chatter.
Today was going to be a grand one,
for certain - for today, renovations
to the city of Lamai were to begin.
Obviously, while that was going on,
no norn (or ettin) was going to be
able to live here. So, the massive
ship known as the Hydra - a cross
between a sailing ship, a warship,
and to some degree the shee ark - was
to take its passengers to a city
across the interstellar sea, where
they could live until Lamai's
rebuilding was finished.
Amongst the crowds of bengals,
bruins, civets, chichis, and
basically every norn breed there
possibly was, a female Bengal with
Magma arms, legs, and tail made her
way through the crowd. She wore only
a blue dress, with a thread tying its
midsection around her waist.
As an astronomer, Aiofa was invited
to be part of the crew, as they
needed someone who was excellent in
reading the stars. As she passed
through the hordes, politely asking
anyone who was getting in the way to
move, it was impossible to see that
she was something besides an
astronomer. But in truth, there was
more to this norn.
In addition to her intrest in the
sky, she was also a pirate. Her
rapier and blunderbuss were expertly
concealed under her dress, lest she
need to use them for any reason.
Years on the sea had taught her
anything could happen on this trip.
By now, Aiofa had made it to the main
entryway into the Hydra, in front of
which sat a Grenorn, who was mostly
Bengal except for his grendel arms,
legs, and tail stood guard.
"Excuse me, sir. I was assigned to
crew on this ship, and I'd like to
get through." she asked him.
The grenorn, who appeared to be
somewhat dozing, stirred, and looked
down at the female Magma Bengal.
"Alright, lemme see here...." he
mumbled, pulling out a slightly
crumpled list. "Ah, yes. You're
Aiofa, if I'm not mistaken?"
"That is correct, sir." Aiofa
responded.
"Well then, go on through, Miss."
With that, the grenorn stepped aside.
As Aiofa walked passed, she smiled
and gave him a quick thank-you.
After she had entered the ship, the
grenorn stepped back into his
previous position.
"Woah there. It isn't time to go
yet!" he said as he waved a couple of
youngsters as they tried to sneak
around him.
Drac:
A battle-scarred Bengal norn pirate,
Chengo, gazed at the strange hybrid
ship thoughtfully from his position
on the roof a dock building, the
ocean breeze ruffling his spiky hair.
He knew he should hurry up and get on
board before he was forgotten, but he
needed time to think ahead.
He knew this voyage was going to go
wrong. It was way too huge in scale
for it all to go smoothly. Chengo's
hard earned instincts were almost
ringing alarm bells in his ears.
Exactly what was going to happen, he
didn't know. He wasn't a prophet,
after all. He was a pirate.
He jumped down from the roof to the
pier and walked casually up towards
the nearest section of the ship,
hands in the pockets of his baggy
jeans. His katana sheath bounced at
his hip as he sauntered up to the
Grenorn on door duty.
"I'm on the crew, move it." Chengo
said, gesturing with his right hand
to make his point. Several scars
could clearly be seen on his furry
white knuckles.
The Grenorn pulled out his list, but
Chengo saved him some time by jabbing
a finger at his name and saying
"Chengo, survival expert and
mercenary. I have these scars for a
reason, you know."
When the Grenorn looked at him
blankly, he decided to give him the
old one-eye-glare.
Chengo closed his left eyelid,
completing the line of yet another
scar that ran down one side of his
face, and stared piercingly at the
door guard with his free eye. The
scar on his left eyelid always
creeped people out; they probably
knew that he was incredibly lucky to
still have binocular vision.
"All right, don't give me that look.
You can go through."
"Finally." Chengo muttered and pushed
his way through the door, ignoring
the fact that the Grenorn had rolled
his eyes at him. "Landlubbers." He
said under his breath.
Maraha:
"Lovely, lovely, lovely day! Isn't
it, Skye?" said the bubbly red-haired
bruin norn to the sempidolo norn
beside her. The sempidolo norn, Skye,
was covered in blueish white fur with
hardly visible black spots on her
arms. She paused, crossed her arms,
and glared at the bruin norn who was
spazzing up and down.
"Eddaeck, stop it, please." She
sighed before running a delicate hand
through her thick, neck-length hair.
"I like your outfit." said Eddaeck.
She herself was wearing rather messy
looking peasant clothes, Skye never
bought her anything expensive or
fancy, she'd get them muddy within a
matter of minutes. Skye grumbled
quietly as Eddaeck tugged on her long
white coat. After a minute of tugging
her shirt, she decided to poke her
silver pants.
"Eddaeck."
"Sorry..." she held her wrists behind
her back, slouching for the rest of
their walk to the Hydra. As they
approached the entryway they were
stopped by the grenorn. "Name?" His
stare intimidated Skye greatly.
"Skye Helmwind, and this is Eddaeck."
The two waited patiently as the
grenorn scanned the list. He nodded
before standing aside. "Welcome
aboard."
Skye and Eddaeck nodded in thanks as
they entered the ship.
KC11:
((D:< What makes you think I'll do a
plot twist, hmmmm?))
Yaris walked up to the ship, staring
at the amazing thing that was the
Hydra. She sighed and shouldered the
weight that was on her back. A
backpack full of mechanical things,
as well as some food and an extra
pair of glasses.
Yaris was a dark green draconian norn
with red glasses and some slight
stripes on her person. She had long,
dark hair that she kept in a number
of very long braids. She was the
ship's technician ((I believe this
was what Yaris was in the original
CP)).
To her left stood her cousin. ((I
forgot her name, she was also in the
original, though then she was dying
of the disease)) who had just come
along for the ride.
Yaris turned to her cousin.
"Look Marvis." she said. "You really
don't have to come along."
Marvis looked at her.
"I want to see the sights!" she said.
"Nothing's going to stop me!"
Yaris sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Look, you don't realize how
dangerous this is. There will be
rough seas, disease, and a general
lot of trouble. And you're... you're
the only family I have left." at
that, Yaris looked at the ground. Her
usually angry, spitfire nature gone
from her for a moment. It came back
to her as Yaris stared at her cousin
again. "I just don't want you to be
stupid, you know? Like pretty much
every young sailor or stowaway?"
"I want to come with you." said
Marvis. "And that's final."
"Okay." said Yaris. "I guess I can't
argue with you.
They walked up to the grenorn.
"Yaris Rentha." said Yaris. "Ship's
technician. And this is Marvis
Rentha."
The grenorn checked his clipboard.
Then he nodded.
"Welcome aboard." he said.
Yaris and Marvis walked up the plank.
((I hope it's alright if I put Marvis
in here, because after all she's
kinda what introduced Yaris as a
character in the original. So...
yeah.))
GM:
((Well, there was the hand thing in
the orginal, and then there was the
grendalin attack in the first
incarnation of the next sequel....
So, yeah.))
By this time, Aiofa had made it to
the top of the Hydra, where there was
a deck open to the air. As huge as
this ship was, this deck was large. A
railing ran around the outskirts to
keep creatures from falling off, and
the view from up here was fantastic.
It was here that her skills in
astronomy would be best applied.
As she made her way across the deck,
a telescope under her arm, she caught
the attention of the numerous males
already present. Although she ignored
them, some of them aimed a couple of
whistles in her direction, and others
called out seductive phrases.
Eventually, one of the bolder ones -
a bruin - eventually left his post
and slowly walked after Aiofa.
When he was a few feet away from her,
whatever he planned on doing was
thrown out the window when Aiofa
suddenly looked over her shoulder,
glaring at him out the corner of her
eye.
"I...um....I'll guess I'll be getting
back to my job now...." he said,
sheepishly retreating. Then he turned
around and ran.
Aiofa smirked, before returning to
the task at hand. Her journey went
uninterrupted until she reached the
part of the deck closest to the front
of the ship. Here, she put her
telescope down, and began to set up
shop.
Suddenly, a call through a megaphone
sounded throughout the air:
"You may now begin to board the
ship."
From her position, Aiofa watched as
the crowd below began to board the
Hydra.
Good thing I got here before that
started, she thought before returning
to her current task.
-------
Elsewhere, a group of norns were
loading up the Cargo Bay with
everything the passengers and crew of
the Hydra would need before they took
off for distant shores.
Right now, being held in a net by a
crane, there was a group of barrels
holding what would be presumed was
apples or fresh water. This was swung
over to a large opening where another
group of bruin crosses waited
patiently.
When the net was set down, the norns
removed it, and began to roll the
barrels into the cargo bay for
storage.
If they had been paying attention,
they would have heard a grendelish
"Oof, oof, oof!" coming from inside
one of the barrels. This same barrel
also happened to roll a bit faster
than the others, as it was heavier.
The main cargo bay was a huge place,
with rows of boxes and crates stacked
up high. To the side of one of these
box mountains was a door through
which the norns rolled the barrels.
This room was slightly smaller than
the main room, with barrels aligned
in lines around its perimeter. In a
gap in the innermost line, the norns
rolled their barrels, positioned them
upright, and shoved them into the gap
neatly.
Now free from their load, the norns
went back to the main entry for more.
When they were gone, the barrel that
had been heavier then the others
suddenly opened up.
Struggling to free himself from his
confinement was a blue-green grendel
who was mostly banshee, except for
his head and arms, which were jungle
grendel. In one hand he held a long
spear with an arrowhead-shaped tip,
in the other he held a circular,
steel shield. And around his neck was
a necklace containing a vial filled
with a sickly green substance.
Popping out rather violently, the
grendel accidentally disturbed
another few barrels as he flew a few
feet.
"That's the last time I get into a
ship that way!" he said to himself,
before looking around.
This was the grendel known as Ravana,
who was here on a devious mission -
to bring his master's most recent
creation - a deadly virus he called
Creaturesporidium.
Releasing the virus right now would
not get it very far, Ravana knew. He
must wait until nightfall to escape
this area and release the virus right
in the midst of a group of sleeping
passengers.
For now, he had to first eat, then
find a way out of the cargo bay. For
the first dilemma, he merely
sauntered over to one of the barrels
he had disturbed, uprighted it, and
using his spear a as a crowbar,
opened it up.
"Apples!" he said, stating the
contents of the barrel, before
suddenly seizing one and taking a
bite out of it. They might not have
been the best food, but they would do
for now.
beatfreak:
Tugging at his hand, Zoom dragged
Josh towards the ship.
"Hurry up! We're going to be late!
Can't you hear them calling?" she
chirped, her bag swinging in her hand
like crazy.
"Zoom, just settle down. We'll make
it don't worry." he said calmly
between quick breaths to the little
norn child. She ignored him and ran
to see the Grenorn with the clip
board
"Zoom and Josh reporting as
passengers!" she said giving a mock
salute.
"Welcome." the Grenorn muttered
before turning to the next person.
"Now Zoom, please don't disappear on
me. If you want to go somewhere
tell," Josh started to say before
looking up and seeing she was gone.
Sighing he face palmed and muttered,
"me first."
Sfot:
Linda signed as she held tightly onto
Sirus's hand. Neither were happy in
the crowd, and the older of the two
was holding her daughter tightly to
her. Her spare hand was clinging onto
the necklace hanging on it's silver
chain. It was full of earth, the
reason of this known only to it's
current wearer.
"Linda and Sirus, passengers." She
was brief as ever when talking to the
grenorn. She had no idea where to go
next, or what to do, so she started
by trying to get to where she was
meant to be sleeping, failing that
away from everybody else.
beatfreak:
Zoom's heart was beating wildly as
she ran through the corriodors,
knocking other passengers aside. She
ignored their startled and agry
cries, with only one thing in mind.
Spotting the door she was looking
for, she grinned in delight and
pulled it open. A wave of salty ocean
air hit her face at once and she
sighed. Stepping out onto the deck,
she listened to the seagulls calling.
Leaning against the railings she
closed her eyes and pictured her
home. As she was daydreaming, a
sharp, piercing whistle cut through
the air.
Hunching her shoulders she scuttled
off quickly, before Josh burst up
onto the deck.
"Zoom, I kow you're here!" he called.
Looking back at Josh, Zoom crept
around the mast, heading as far as
way as possible from him. But in
doing so, she bumped into Aiofa.
Squealing she jumped and turned to
face her.
"I'm sorry!" she squeaked
Maraha:
((D8 Eh? Eh? Eh? This isn't dead, is
it? We must... try... HARDER...!))
Drac:
"CHENGO!"
Chengo groaned inwardly. He knew that
piercing cry far too well, it nagged
at him just about every single day he
spent on land. No wonder he left for
the sea to become a pirate, his bossy
cousin could drive anyone insane.
Tylrande stormed towards him, yellow
eyes flashing dangerously as she
lashed her tail. She was pure hardman
apart from the faint stripes on her
body, the only sign that she was
related to Chengo. She stomped right
up to her scarred cousin and jabbed
him in the chest with a long, thin
finger. "You're gonna behave on this
trip Chengo, no funny pirate
business. If someone gets knocked out
or something goes missing, I'll know
you did it!"
"Whatever." Chengo yawned and tried
to walk around Tylrande, but she
stepped sideways to intercept him.
"I'm watching you, mum and dad never
forgave you for becoming a pirate and
I bet your parents didn't either."
Tylrande growled, then slouched away.
"They died, remember?" Chengo called
after her, then he rolled his eyes
and went over to the railings of the
deck. He stared down into the water,
trying to ignore the masses of people
boarding the ship.
KC11:
Yaris was already in the ship's hold
by this time. She and Marvis were
placing their items by their cots.
"I call top cot." said Yaris.
"WHAT?" yelled Marvis. "No, I want
top cot!"
"I called it first!" said Yaris. She
grabbed the edge of the cot and, in a
quick bound, leaped onto it, settling
comfortably into the cot. Marvis
stood on the ground, pouting.
"But..."
"Hey, you always got the top bunk
back at home. It's only fair." said
Yaris.
"Sigh... okay." said Marvis.
Yaris grabbed her blanket out of her
case and drapped it over the cot.
Marvis did the same with her's.
"Okay." said Marvis. "I believe
that's it. We can keep the rest of
the items in the suitcases."
"Have we left port yet?" asked Yaris.
"I don't think so. The ship isn't
moving."
"Alright then. I'm going to go up top
for a while. This place is stuffy."
As Marvis rested in her cot, Yaris
climbed the stairs to the deck. Once
up there, she crossed over to the
edge of the ship.
She looked out at the ocean. Soon
they would be leaving, going into
that ocean.
She couldn't believe this. All her
life she had been studying mechanics
just so she could go somewhere.
Somewhere that wasn't here. Anywhere.
She hated this place. It had too
many... memories.
She rested her head on her hands,
which were clinging to the edge of
the ship. And she tried to think, to
remember, as she often did when she
was alone.
No, she still couldn't remember much
of her mother. Or father. She just
saw strange shapes and.... laughter.
Marvis once said she tried to
remember her own parents as well. She
had been orphaned before she had even
hatched. Marvis said Yaris was lucky.
At least she had shadows to go by.
Marvis had nothing. Nothing at all.
((Oh geez, I just realized that I
have a hideous gaping plot hole where
Marvis's parents are concerned. D:
*goes off to think))
beatfreak:
"Zoom? Zoom where are you?" Josh
called angrily, before sighing again.
Why had he agreed to babysit this
weird child? Why did her parents just
have to suddenly disappear?
Looking about he spotted a striped
bengal norn standing not far off and
approached him hopefully.
"Excuse me you haven't seen a little
brown bruin norn around here have
you?" he asked
Drac:
Chengo gave a start and looked
around, gaze finally resting on Josh.
"No, I haven't. What happened?"
Chengo replied, hoping that his scars
didn't put this stranger off. When he
actually did want to be friendly to
people, they were often too scared to
notice that he wasn't brandishing a
katana at them.
beatfreak:
"She..uhhh...disappeared on me." Josh
said, trying to find a different word
for run away. Looking at Chengo's
scars he raised an eyebrow. "Bet that
was some fight you got in. Thanks for
your help anyway."
Taking one last look about him, Josh
headed back below deck, not noticing
Zoom's head poke out from behind the
mast.
"Is he gone?" she asked Chengo, a
sticky coating of jam covering her
mouth and nose. (she had stolen it
earlier from the kitchens)
Drac:
"Uh huh. You're lucky I'm feeling too
lazy to put you in a headlock and
call him back." Chengo replied
shortly. He didn't like kids, and it
showed on his face. He wrinkled his
nose before turning back to the
railings and gazing down into the sea
again. "When's this damn ship gonna
set off?" He murmured to himself,
eager to get back to the open ocean.
Beatfreak:
Giggling Zoom raced over to Chengo
and looked over the side of the ship
with him. Despite the pissed off look
on his face, she enjoyed annoying
people. She knew when enough was
enough but sometimes...
"I don't know, but I hope it's soon.
This place is booooorrring already."
she sang at his elbow
Spary:
Slanger clung to his moldy hunk of
cheese. He eyed the passing
passengers with curiosity, his hunger
still ravenous even after finding his
cheesy banquet near the kitchen bins.
The crumbs fell all over his well
worn long coat which was a dull grey
and went all the way to the floor,
allowing him to merge into the
shadows as a stowaway. It was miracle
he had sneaked on - that grenorn
looked nasty. He continued to gaze
on.
He saw families, lovers, youths,
professors, scholars, sailors,
guards, and he had sworn he saw a
pirate hiding some kind of child from
what appeared to be his brother or
babysitter. Slanger was a pure-breed
Fallow back in his home land. He
would of been considered royalty, but
here he had to scrounge, beg,
pickpocket and hide. It wasn't much
of a life but it was his.
Picking himself up, he brushed away
the debris of his meal from his coat
and rags known as his leggings, and
he began to walk in his broken
leather boots and headed towards the
deck to look across the ocean and
perhaps some food...
Drac:
((Thanks for joining the RP Spray,
just make sure you check the
resources and post a profile for your
character ))
Chengo looked down at Zoom. At least
they agreed on something. "Yeah,
you're right. Things don't get really
interesting until you're out on the
sea in a storm, with the waves
pouring over the deck and the wind
slapping you in the face."
"I don't think the poor kid agrees
with you, Chengo." Tylrande said,
eyes flashing. She had reappeared to
nag at Chengo some more.
Sfot:
Linda sighed as she finally found her
room, still holding onto Sirus
tightly. The whole place
felt...Cramped. Very cramped. Or
maybe it was her just being to used
to living where she had. The civit
let her daughter's hand go before
brushing a strand of hair out her
face.
Sirus, however, couldn't help but
smile. She adored the sea, and water,
and rain... She figited with her
hairtie again. She was sure to be let
out when the crowds died down,
though, so it was okay.
KC11:
Yaris looked over with annoyance at
where Chengo, Zoom, and Josh were.
"Could you guys keep it down? I'm
trying to think." she asked
irritably.
Meanwhile, Marvis was resting in her
cot. She stared up at the wooden
ceiling, listening to the footsteps
above.
Yes, it was going to be interesting,
with her cousin as the Technician.
Marvis herself had always wanted to
learn that sort of path, but she just
didn't quite have the knack for it.
She turned over in her cot, making it
swing and creak slightly.
Spray:
Searching high and low, Slanger could
not find his way to the deck in the
huddled masses of the passengers.
Retracing his steps to area he was
before, he noticed from the corner of
his eye that the pirate still stood
there vigilant with the small child
by his side
"Excuse me sir, I'm lost, could you
help?" Slanger began the
conversation.
Beatfreak:
"Actually miss, I quite like the
sound of a storm." Zoom said
politely, as she turned towards Ty,
before seeing the apporaching Fallow
norn. "HI!" she shouted, making the
passangers around her wince.
"Sure....he cna help. I just
realized, I don't know your name. Or
yours. Or yours. Or yours." she said
turning and pointing at anyone and
everyone who was around her
Spray:
Slanger looked at the hyperactive
norn with dismay, not quite sure what
to make of his mannerisms. Crouching
to his level, he spoke "I'm Slanger,
who are you?" He tried to sound
polite, as he found people were much
more hospitable when you were polite.
KC11:
Yaris slammed her fist down on the
railing and turned to the group.
"SERIOUSLY." she yelled. "SHUT. UP.
Or are we planning on having a full
out bash party on deck before we
leave? Do you have to be TALKING all
the time? NO."
She then turned back to the railing
and continued looking out at the sea.
((ASPLOSION. . Gods, Yaris is so
touchy, it's fun.))
Beatfreak:
Wincing at Yaris's yelling Zoom
muttered, "Sheesh someone's in a
grump." Turning back to Slanger she
gave him a toothy grin. "My name's
Zoom. And somewhere around here is my
au pair Josh."
GM:
((Sorry about the wait. D8 And also
sorry about the short post.
Spray, I would recommend you pay at
least some attention to your grammar
- I'm not in the mood to go through
and edit out all the typos. Other
than that, it's nice to see someone
else is taking an interest in this.))
Aiofa had finally finished erecting
her little workplace out on the main
deck. In addition to the telescope,
there was also a desk, covered with
notebooks filled with star charts and
planet movements. Her actual office
was somewhere down below, so if it
happened to be stormy out she could
just work down there.
Suddenly, a loud foghorn blared out.
The doors closed, and the Hydra
lurched forwards. It was time -
finally time to take off. A smile
crossed the Magma bengal's face.
This trip shall be most
interesting.... she thought, as she
turned away to head for the dining
area in search of something to eat,
taking note of the fact that the deck
had turned into quite the crowd.
-------
The movement of the ship caused the
barrel of apples Ravana was digging
into to tilt over and spill out all
over the floor.
Halting quickly, the grendel looked
around, wondering if anyone heard the
racket that made. But when nobody
moved, he finished off another apple,
and then turned to look for an answer
to a better question: How the heck
was he supposed to get out of the
Cargo hold?
Getting out of this room was easy
enough - he merely had to shove open
the door and walk out into the main
area. But where to go from here was
beyond his knowledge....
Drac:
Chengo bristled at Yaris' shout,
baring his teeth and closing his
scarred eyelid. It made him look
scarier, but he didn't do it on
purpose. It was a habit. "Well, I'm
in the kind of mindset to-"
Tylrande glared at him. "Chengo!
Stabbing people is rude and
uncivilised!"
Chengo muttered under his breath and
turned to Slanger. "If you're lost,
there's maps stuck up on the walls
around the ship. I'm not sure where
the nearest one is, though." At that
he edged away, trying to escape his
aggravated cousin Tylrande.
Maraha:
((Oh man, I just noticed that I've
only posted once in the actual RP.
Gah I'm such a silly hypocrite.
xDDDDD Sorry gaiz, ILUtho.))
"Eep!" Eddaeck squeaked as she fell
when the ship lurched forward. Skye
stuck her arms out to the side to
steady herself. After that was over,
they both decided to stop randomly
wandering around the ship and went on
to visit the deck.
As they wandered up to the deck,
Eddaeck nearly squealed at the sight;
more people! Someone to share her
inedible barnacle sandwiches with!
She just couldn't contain her
excitement. It was when she began to
run forward that Skye grabbed her
shoulder, pulling her back. "Edd,
please stay calm, this is no place to
randomly spazz out."
"Skye?"
"Yes?"
"Where are we going?"
"I really don't know. Anywhere but
where we were before is good in my
book." She stepped over to the
railings, hands on hips, not really
looking at anything in particular. "I
just want to get out there. I can't
stay in one place for so incredibly
long, you know. All my life I've
wanted to travel..." She continued to
just stand there, looking almost
dazed now. Eddaeck just shrugged and
took a look around the deck, looking
for someone interesting to talk to;
Skye was beginning to get boring.
Spray:
(Sorry Grendel Man )
Slanger felt sorry for the small norn
his youthfull eyes brought much
sadness about him. "Come, We'll find
your Au Pair, he'll be here
somewhere" Said Slanger his
outstretched arm signaling For zoom
to hold. This childs matters were
more important than simple wondering.
"Coming?" he questioned his eye brows
lifted
KC11:
Eventually, Yaris got bored with
staring out. She heard the blast of
the foghorn and looked up. The Hydra
was about to leave.
Quickly, she pushed herself away from
the railing and looked around. She
could see other people wandering
about the deck. She wondered what she
was supposed to do.
She looked around until she saw
Chengo. Unaware that this was the
bengel whom she had upset, she walked
over and asked "Excuse me, but what
exactly am I supposed to do? I'm the
ship's technician."
((-_-))
Spray:
Slanger stood for a few silent
moments, his hand outstretched. It
seemed like minutes, "well?" he asked
again. However something caught his
eye, something he had thought he left
behind. Slanger stood rigid unable to
speak. A rush of fear and anger came
over him. He froze to the spot...
Beatfreak:
((Sorry!))
Zoom bit her lip as she looked at the
out stretched hand. Sighing she took
hold of it and nodded; she might as
well return to Josh as she was
getting bored.
"What's wrong?" she asked as she saw
him freeze
Spray:
Slanger had not tme to explain
hastily he flung zoom onto his back
in a sort of piggy-back ride position
as not to alarm the young infant.
"Let's go" he said trying to conceal
his fear. Slanger began to think were
would an au pair be?. This came to
little avail. "do you have any idea
where he is?" he questioned
KC11:
Yaris walked up to Chengo and tapped
him roughly on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, are you deaf?" she asked.
"What the hell am I supposed to be
doing? Fixing something? Checking
something? HELLO?"
((I feel kinda bad. I just reread the
posts I made in the second part of
the Creatures Porodium. D:))
Beatfreak:
"Try the front deck. Maybe the captin
can tell you where to go." Zoom
yelled to Yaris as Slanger lifted her
onto his back. "And maybe he's in the
cabins. Really you don't need to
carry me, I've got my own two legs.
And I'm fast." she added
Drac:
((hey hey, wait until I post! D:))
Chengo turned to face the Draconian,
eyeing her glumly. "Technician huh?
Well, you've got a fairly easy job.
All you have to do is check the
running parts of the ship, especially
the engines, and fix 'em if they
break." He ran a hand through his
hair tiredly. Confronting Tylrande
always wore him out. "I'm Chengo,
hired mercenary. I'll be on the front
line if the ship gets attacked, which
is quite likely. Pirates won't be
able to resist a ship this size." He
gave a slightly sly grin. "I ought to
know how their minds work, being one
myself."
KC11:
"Pirate?"
Yaris stared at Chengo, seeing the
scars, the battle wounds, everything.
She narrowed her eyes, backing away,
shaking her head. Then, when she was
a certain distance away, she turned
and ran back to the lower areas,
slamming the door as she went.
"Mavis! Mavis!"
Yaris jumped the stairs two at a
time, rushing down to the ship's
underground. She turned the corner
and ran until she found Mavis's
hanging cot, where she lay asleep.
"WAKE UP!" yelled Yaris, pushing the
cot over. Mavis thumped out of the
cot and scrambled to her feet.
"Geez cousin, what's gotten you?"
asked Mavis.
"There's a PIRATE on board!" said
Yaris, pointing upward. "I just asked
this one norn what my duties were as
a technician, and he told me and all,
but then he told me he was a PIRATE."
"What'd he look like?" asked Mavis.
"Bengal, lots of scars, generally
unpleasent." said Yaris, shrugging.
"What does that matter? The point is,
there's a pirate running this
operation!"
"I've heard about this sort of
thing." said Mavis. "They hire
pirates to help onboard because of
their.... good navigation skills I
believe? But they're usually
reformed, or mostly reformed pirates.
I wouldn't worry."
Mavis yawned and climbed back into
her bunk. Yaris glared at her.
"You won't be saying that WHEN HE
CUTS YOUR THOAT." said Yaris. She
then marched off into the bowels of
the ship.
Spray:
In all the fear Slanger had failed to
realise what he was doing. After
walking a few paces in the suggested
direction of the cabin, Slanger
lowered the small norn. "i'm realy
sorry for that" He said awkwardly.
Slanger knew what he had seen but it
was no reason for alarming others
especialy as he knew they wanted him.
"so... What's your buisiness om this
ship?" he asked zoom trying to start
a converstaion.
GM:
Just before Aiofa disappeared below
deck, she took one last glance at the
deck. One norn - who appeared to be a
fallow - was spazzing
about...something, but before she
could see the rest of it, some
draconian ran past, nearly running
the Magma Bengal over.
"Hey! Watch it!" she snarled, but the
draconian was gone before she even
opened her mouth. Which brought up
the question: What was she so rushed
for?
She turned back, her eyes finally
settling on a certain battle-scared
bengal. When she did, something about
him made her feel...uneasy, to say
the least. However, perhaps he knew a
thing or two about this ship....
She turned around and approached him,
taking note of the fact that it was
beginning to get late.
"Excuse me, sir. Would you happen to
know where the dining hall is?" she
asked of Chengo.
------
As Ravana looked around the main
chamber, it didn't take him long to
see the catwalk high above him. That,
he guessed, was where he was supposed
to go. But, how to get up there....
His question was answered suddenly
when a pair of norns, obviously down
here to collect food supplies, opened
a previously hidden door on the other
side of the room.
Quickly, the grendel looked around,
trying to find a place to hide. Too
late - they noticed him. The two
gasped, dropped whatever they were
carrying, and turned right back
around to perhaps alert the rest of
the ship of his presence.
Well, no way he was going to let that
happen. With one swift motion, he
cast a disc that appeared to be made
of ice mixed with energy in one
norn's direction. It homed in, and
when it made contact it made no
visible wound, but the norn fell dead
in an instant.
His partner saw what happened, but
instead of running was transfixed
with fear, only able to stare as
Ravana thundered towards him.
The grendel halted right in front of
the norn, and then grasped his throat
and hoisted him into the air. "Don't
think you're getting away scot-free
now." he snarled, before dropping the
norn and slicing his throat open with
a single slash of his spear.
Snorting, Ravana then turned around
and proceeded to climb the stairs
past the door. Before too long, his
mission would be accomplished....
Beatfreak:
"I'm not really sure. My parents just
disappeared one day, leaving me with
Josh. They left instructions to come
aboard this voyage and continue from
here." Zoom said with a shrug before
looking up at the taller norn she
asked, "what's your story?"
Drac:
Chengo watched the norn run off,
utterly confused. Did he say
something wrong?
When he heard another voice, he
turned. It seemed he had some sort of
air of authority; everyone was asking
him what to do. "The staff dining
hall's at the rear of the ship, third
level, if I'm right in guessing
you're on the crew." He replied. "I
was going to head there myself in a
moment anyway."
Spray:
Slanger felt uneasy but he was
begining to like this 'zoom'. He
seemed friendly and that was a
characteristic missing in many these
days. "well" he said then paused
trying to fight back the small tear
that swelled in the corner of his
eye.
"I Lived in the Ashen Forest in
what's called a glade. It was
wonderful, The seasons were portrayed
as something out of a dream the Local
tavern always full of the finest ale
and stories. I had a family, Mother
and father. Both were kind
warm-hearted folk. Then one day a
certain cult called 'Truth and
Knowledge' sold our Glade to a bunch
of Grendels. I fled for my life but i
remember one thing... One was able to
shoot ice, that killed my mother. My
father fled never seen him since."
Slanger felt the awkward silence
prick his fur. "anyway isn't this the
cabin?" he questioned
GM:
((Well, we've waited long enough for
this one - so now it's time to begin.
Unlike the previous, this starts out
in the port. Don't worry, we won't be
here long. So no plot twists!
*coughkccough*))
"All aboard!"
It was a fine day to begin a voyage.
The sun was shining high in the blue
sky, the seagulls were calling, and
the air was thick with chatter.
Today was going to be a grand one,
for certain - for today, renovations
to the city of Lamai were to begin.
Obviously, while that was going on,
no norn (or ettin) was going to be
able to live here. So, the massive
ship known as the Hydra - a cross
between a sailing ship, a warship,
and to some degree the shee ark - was
to take its passengers to a city
across the interstellar sea, where
they could live until Lamai's
rebuilding was finished.
Amongst the crowds of bengals,
bruins, civets, chichis, and
basically every norn breed there
possibly was, a female Bengal with
Magma arms, legs, and tail made her
way through the crowd. She wore only
a blue dress, with a thread tying its
midsection around her waist.
As an astronomer, Aiofa was invited
to be part of the crew, as they
needed someone who was excellent in
reading the stars. As she passed
through the hordes, politely asking
anyone who was getting in the way to
move, it was impossible to see that
she was something besides an
astronomer. But in truth, there was
more to this norn.
In addition to her intrest in the
sky, she was also a pirate. Her
rapier and blunderbuss were expertly
concealed under her dress, lest she
need to use them for any reason.
Years on the sea had taught her
anything could happen on this trip.
By now, Aiofa had made it to the main
entryway into the Hydra, in front of
which sat a Grenorn, who was mostly
Bengal except for his grendel arms,
legs, and tail stood guard.
"Excuse me, sir. I was assigned to
crew on this ship, and I'd like to
get through." she asked him.
The grenorn, who appeared to be
somewhat dozing, stirred, and looked
down at the female Magma Bengal.
"Alright, lemme see here...." he
mumbled, pulling out a slightly
crumpled list. "Ah, yes. You're
Aiofa, if I'm not mistaken?"
"That is correct, sir." Aiofa
responded.
"Well then, go on through, Miss."
With that, the grenorn stepped aside.
As Aiofa walked passed, she smiled
and gave him a quick thank-you.
After she had entered the ship, the
grenorn stepped back into his
previous position.
"Woah there. It isn't time to go
yet!" he said as he waved a couple of
youngsters as they tried to sneak
around him.
Drac:
A battle-scarred Bengal norn pirate,
Chengo, gazed at the strange hybrid
ship thoughtfully from his position
on the roof a dock building, the
ocean breeze ruffling his spiky hair.
He knew he should hurry up and get on
board before he was forgotten, but he
needed time to think ahead.
He knew this voyage was going to go
wrong. It was way too huge in scale
for it all to go smoothly. Chengo's
hard earned instincts were almost
ringing alarm bells in his ears.
Exactly what was going to happen, he
didn't know. He wasn't a prophet,
after all. He was a pirate.
He jumped down from the roof to the
pier and walked casually up towards
the nearest section of the ship,
hands in the pockets of his baggy
jeans. His katana sheath bounced at
his hip as he sauntered up to the
Grenorn on door duty.
"I'm on the crew, move it." Chengo
said, gesturing with his right hand
to make his point. Several scars
could clearly be seen on his furry
white knuckles.
The Grenorn pulled out his list, but
Chengo saved him some time by jabbing
a finger at his name and saying
"Chengo, survival expert and
mercenary. I have these scars for a
reason, you know."
When the Grenorn looked at him
blankly, he decided to give him the
old one-eye-glare.
Chengo closed his left eyelid,
completing the line of yet another
scar that ran down one side of his
face, and stared piercingly at the
door guard with his free eye. The
scar on his left eyelid always
creeped people out; they probably
knew that he was incredibly lucky to
still have binocular vision.
"All right, don't give me that look.
You can go through."
"Finally." Chengo muttered and pushed
his way through the door, ignoring
the fact that the Grenorn had rolled
his eyes at him. "Landlubbers." He
said under his breath.
Maraha:
"Lovely, lovely, lovely day! Isn't
it, Skye?" said the bubbly red-haired
bruin norn to the sempidolo norn
beside her. The sempidolo norn, Skye,
was covered in blueish white fur with
hardly visible black spots on her
arms. She paused, crossed her arms,
and glared at the bruin norn who was
spazzing up and down.
"Eddaeck, stop it, please." She
sighed before running a delicate hand
through her thick, neck-length hair.
"I like your outfit." said Eddaeck.
She herself was wearing rather messy
looking peasant clothes, Skye never
bought her anything expensive or
fancy, she'd get them muddy within a
matter of minutes. Skye grumbled
quietly as Eddaeck tugged on her long
white coat. After a minute of tugging
her shirt, she decided to poke her
silver pants.
"Eddaeck."
"Sorry..." she held her wrists behind
her back, slouching for the rest of
their walk to the Hydra. As they
approached the entryway they were
stopped by the grenorn. "Name?" His
stare intimidated Skye greatly.
"Skye Helmwind, and this is Eddaeck."
The two waited patiently as the
grenorn scanned the list. He nodded
before standing aside. "Welcome
aboard."
Skye and Eddaeck nodded in thanks as
they entered the ship.
KC11:
((D:< What makes you think I'll do a
plot twist, hmmmm?))
Yaris walked up to the ship, staring
at the amazing thing that was the
Hydra. She sighed and shouldered the
weight that was on her back. A
backpack full of mechanical things,
as well as some food and an extra
pair of glasses.
Yaris was a dark green draconian norn
with red glasses and some slight
stripes on her person. She had long,
dark hair that she kept in a number
of very long braids. She was the
ship's technician ((I believe this
was what Yaris was in the original
CP)).
To her left stood her cousin. ((I
forgot her name, she was also in the
original, though then she was dying
of the disease)) who had just come
along for the ride.
Yaris turned to her cousin.
"Look Marvis." she said. "You really
don't have to come along."
Marvis looked at her.
"I want to see the sights!" she said.
"Nothing's going to stop me!"
Yaris sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Look, you don't realize how
dangerous this is. There will be
rough seas, disease, and a general
lot of trouble. And you're... you're
the only family I have left." at
that, Yaris looked at the ground. Her
usually angry, spitfire nature gone
from her for a moment. It came back
to her as Yaris stared at her cousin
again. "I just don't want you to be
stupid, you know? Like pretty much
every young sailor or stowaway?"
"I want to come with you." said
Marvis. "And that's final."
"Okay." said Yaris. "I guess I can't
argue with you.
They walked up to the grenorn.
"Yaris Rentha." said Yaris. "Ship's
technician. And this is Marvis
Rentha."
The grenorn checked his clipboard.
Then he nodded.
"Welcome aboard." he said.
Yaris and Marvis walked up the plank.
((I hope it's alright if I put Marvis
in here, because after all she's
kinda what introduced Yaris as a
character in the original. So...
yeah.))
GM:
((Well, there was the hand thing in
the orginal, and then there was the
grendalin attack in the first
incarnation of the next sequel....
So, yeah.))
By this time, Aiofa had made it to
the top of the Hydra, where there was
a deck open to the air. As huge as
this ship was, this deck was large. A
railing ran around the outskirts to
keep creatures from falling off, and
the view from up here was fantastic.
It was here that her skills in
astronomy would be best applied.
As she made her way across the deck,
a telescope under her arm, she caught
the attention of the numerous males
already present. Although she ignored
them, some of them aimed a couple of
whistles in her direction, and others
called out seductive phrases.
Eventually, one of the bolder ones -
a bruin - eventually left his post
and slowly walked after Aiofa.
When he was a few feet away from her,
whatever he planned on doing was
thrown out the window when Aiofa
suddenly looked over her shoulder,
glaring at him out the corner of her
eye.
"I...um....I'll guess I'll be getting
back to my job now...." he said,
sheepishly retreating. Then he turned
around and ran.
Aiofa smirked, before returning to
the task at hand. Her journey went
uninterrupted until she reached the
part of the deck closest to the front
of the ship. Here, she put her
telescope down, and began to set up
shop.
Suddenly, a call through a megaphone
sounded throughout the air:
"You may now begin to board the
ship."
From her position, Aiofa watched as
the crowd below began to board the
Hydra.
Good thing I got here before that
started, she thought before returning
to her current task.
-------
Elsewhere, a group of norns were
loading up the Cargo Bay with
everything the passengers and crew of
the Hydra would need before they took
off for distant shores.
Right now, being held in a net by a
crane, there was a group of barrels
holding what would be presumed was
apples or fresh water. This was swung
over to a large opening where another
group of bruin crosses waited
patiently.
When the net was set down, the norns
removed it, and began to roll the
barrels into the cargo bay for
storage.
If they had been paying attention,
they would have heard a grendelish
"Oof, oof, oof!" coming from inside
one of the barrels. This same barrel
also happened to roll a bit faster
than the others, as it was heavier.
The main cargo bay was a huge place,
with rows of boxes and crates stacked
up high. To the side of one of these
box mountains was a door through
which the norns rolled the barrels.
This room was slightly smaller than
the main room, with barrels aligned
in lines around its perimeter. In a
gap in the innermost line, the norns
rolled their barrels, positioned them
upright, and shoved them into the gap
neatly.
Now free from their load, the norns
went back to the main entry for more.
When they were gone, the barrel that
had been heavier then the others
suddenly opened up.
Struggling to free himself from his
confinement was a blue-green grendel
who was mostly banshee, except for
his head and arms, which were jungle
grendel. In one hand he held a long
spear with an arrowhead-shaped tip,
in the other he held a circular,
steel shield. And around his neck was
a necklace containing a vial filled
with a sickly green substance.
Popping out rather violently, the
grendel accidentally disturbed
another few barrels as he flew a few
feet.
"That's the last time I get into a
ship that way!" he said to himself,
before looking around.
This was the grendel known as Ravana,
who was here on a devious mission -
to bring his master's most recent
creation - a deadly virus he called
Creaturesporidium.
Releasing the virus right now would
not get it very far, Ravana knew. He
must wait until nightfall to escape
this area and release the virus right
in the midst of a group of sleeping
passengers.
For now, he had to first eat, then
find a way out of the cargo bay. For
the first dilemma, he merely
sauntered over to one of the barrels
he had disturbed, uprighted it, and
using his spear a as a crowbar,
opened it up.
"Apples!" he said, stating the
contents of the barrel, before
suddenly seizing one and taking a
bite out of it. They might not have
been the best food, but they would do
for now.
beatfreak:
Tugging at his hand, Zoom dragged
Josh towards the ship.
"Hurry up! We're going to be late!
Can't you hear them calling?" she
chirped, her bag swinging in her hand
like crazy.
"Zoom, just settle down. We'll make
it don't worry." he said calmly
between quick breaths to the little
norn child. She ignored him and ran
to see the Grenorn with the clip
board
"Zoom and Josh reporting as
passengers!" she said giving a mock
salute.
"Welcome." the Grenorn muttered
before turning to the next person.
"Now Zoom, please don't disappear on
me. If you want to go somewhere
tell," Josh started to say before
looking up and seeing she was gone.
Sighing he face palmed and muttered,
"me first."
Sfot:
Linda signed as she held tightly onto
Sirus's hand. Neither were happy in
the crowd, and the older of the two
was holding her daughter tightly to
her. Her spare hand was clinging onto
the necklace hanging on it's silver
chain. It was full of earth, the
reason of this known only to it's
current wearer.
"Linda and Sirus, passengers." She
was brief as ever when talking to the
grenorn. She had no idea where to go
next, or what to do, so she started
by trying to get to where she was
meant to be sleeping, failing that
away from everybody else.
beatfreak:
Zoom's heart was beating wildly as
she ran through the corriodors,
knocking other passengers aside. She
ignored their startled and agry
cries, with only one thing in mind.
Spotting the door she was looking
for, she grinned in delight and
pulled it open. A wave of salty ocean
air hit her face at once and she
sighed. Stepping out onto the deck,
she listened to the seagulls calling.
Leaning against the railings she
closed her eyes and pictured her
home. As she was daydreaming, a
sharp, piercing whistle cut through
the air.
Hunching her shoulders she scuttled
off quickly, before Josh burst up
onto the deck.
"Zoom, I kow you're here!" he called.
Looking back at Josh, Zoom crept
around the mast, heading as far as
way as possible from him. But in
doing so, she bumped into Aiofa.
Squealing she jumped and turned to
face her.
"I'm sorry!" she squeaked
Maraha:
((D8 Eh? Eh? Eh? This isn't dead, is
it? We must... try... HARDER...!))
Drac:
"CHENGO!"
Chengo groaned inwardly. He knew that
piercing cry far too well, it nagged
at him just about every single day he
spent on land. No wonder he left for
the sea to become a pirate, his bossy
cousin could drive anyone insane.
Tylrande stormed towards him, yellow
eyes flashing dangerously as she
lashed her tail. She was pure hardman
apart from the faint stripes on her
body, the only sign that she was
related to Chengo. She stomped right
up to her scarred cousin and jabbed
him in the chest with a long, thin
finger. "You're gonna behave on this
trip Chengo, no funny pirate
business. If someone gets knocked out
or something goes missing, I'll know
you did it!"
"Whatever." Chengo yawned and tried
to walk around Tylrande, but she
stepped sideways to intercept him.
"I'm watching you, mum and dad never
forgave you for becoming a pirate and
I bet your parents didn't either."
Tylrande growled, then slouched away.
"They died, remember?" Chengo called
after her, then he rolled his eyes
and went over to the railings of the
deck. He stared down into the water,
trying to ignore the masses of people
boarding the ship.
KC11:
Yaris was already in the ship's hold
by this time. She and Marvis were
placing their items by their cots.
"I call top cot." said Yaris.
"WHAT?" yelled Marvis. "No, I want
top cot!"
"I called it first!" said Yaris. She
grabbed the edge of the cot and, in a
quick bound, leaped onto it, settling
comfortably into the cot. Marvis
stood on the ground, pouting.
"But..."
"Hey, you always got the top bunk
back at home. It's only fair." said
Yaris.
"Sigh... okay." said Marvis.
Yaris grabbed her blanket out of her
case and drapped it over the cot.
Marvis did the same with her's.
"Okay." said Marvis. "I believe
that's it. We can keep the rest of
the items in the suitcases."
"Have we left port yet?" asked Yaris.
"I don't think so. The ship isn't
moving."
"Alright then. I'm going to go up top
for a while. This place is stuffy."
As Marvis rested in her cot, Yaris
climbed the stairs to the deck. Once
up there, she crossed over to the
edge of the ship.
She looked out at the ocean. Soon
they would be leaving, going into
that ocean.
She couldn't believe this. All her
life she had been studying mechanics
just so she could go somewhere.
Somewhere that wasn't here. Anywhere.
She hated this place. It had too
many... memories.
She rested her head on her hands,
which were clinging to the edge of
the ship. And she tried to think, to
remember, as she often did when she
was alone.
No, she still couldn't remember much
of her mother. Or father. She just
saw strange shapes and.... laughter.
Marvis once said she tried to
remember her own parents as well. She
had been orphaned before she had even
hatched. Marvis said Yaris was lucky.
At least she had shadows to go by.
Marvis had nothing. Nothing at all.
((Oh geez, I just realized that I
have a hideous gaping plot hole where
Marvis's parents are concerned. D:
*goes off to think))
beatfreak:
"Zoom? Zoom where are you?" Josh
called angrily, before sighing again.
Why had he agreed to babysit this
weird child? Why did her parents just
have to suddenly disappear?
Looking about he spotted a striped
bengal norn standing not far off and
approached him hopefully.
"Excuse me you haven't seen a little
brown bruin norn around here have
you?" he asked
Drac:
Chengo gave a start and looked
around, gaze finally resting on Josh.
"No, I haven't. What happened?"
Chengo replied, hoping that his scars
didn't put this stranger off. When he
actually did want to be friendly to
people, they were often too scared to
notice that he wasn't brandishing a
katana at them.
beatfreak:
"She..uhhh...disappeared on me." Josh
said, trying to find a different word
for run away. Looking at Chengo's
scars he raised an eyebrow. "Bet that
was some fight you got in. Thanks for
your help anyway."
Taking one last look about him, Josh
headed back below deck, not noticing
Zoom's head poke out from behind the
mast.
"Is he gone?" she asked Chengo, a
sticky coating of jam covering her
mouth and nose. (she had stolen it
earlier from the kitchens)
Drac:
"Uh huh. You're lucky I'm feeling too
lazy to put you in a headlock and
call him back." Chengo replied
shortly. He didn't like kids, and it
showed on his face. He wrinkled his
nose before turning back to the
railings and gazing down into the sea
again. "When's this damn ship gonna
set off?" He murmured to himself,
eager to get back to the open ocean.
Beatfreak:
Giggling Zoom raced over to Chengo
and looked over the side of the ship
with him. Despite the pissed off look
on his face, she enjoyed annoying
people. She knew when enough was
enough but sometimes...
"I don't know, but I hope it's soon.
This place is booooorrring already."
she sang at his elbow
Spary:
Slanger clung to his moldy hunk of
cheese. He eyed the passing
passengers with curiosity, his hunger
still ravenous even after finding his
cheesy banquet near the kitchen bins.
The crumbs fell all over his well
worn long coat which was a dull grey
and went all the way to the floor,
allowing him to merge into the
shadows as a stowaway. It was miracle
he had sneaked on - that grenorn
looked nasty. He continued to gaze
on.
He saw families, lovers, youths,
professors, scholars, sailors,
guards, and he had sworn he saw a
pirate hiding some kind of child from
what appeared to be his brother or
babysitter. Slanger was a pure-breed
Fallow back in his home land. He
would of been considered royalty, but
here he had to scrounge, beg,
pickpocket and hide. It wasn't much
of a life but it was his.
Picking himself up, he brushed away
the debris of his meal from his coat
and rags known as his leggings, and
he began to walk in his broken
leather boots and headed towards the
deck to look across the ocean and
perhaps some food...
Drac:
((Thanks for joining the RP Spray,
just make sure you check the
resources and post a profile for your
character ))
Chengo looked down at Zoom. At least
they agreed on something. "Yeah,
you're right. Things don't get really
interesting until you're out on the
sea in a storm, with the waves
pouring over the deck and the wind
slapping you in the face."
"I don't think the poor kid agrees
with you, Chengo." Tylrande said,
eyes flashing. She had reappeared to
nag at Chengo some more.
Sfot:
Linda sighed as she finally found her
room, still holding onto Sirus
tightly. The whole place
felt...Cramped. Very cramped. Or
maybe it was her just being to used
to living where she had. The civit
let her daughter's hand go before
brushing a strand of hair out her
face.
Sirus, however, couldn't help but
smile. She adored the sea, and water,
and rain... She figited with her
hairtie again. She was sure to be let
out when the crowds died down,
though, so it was okay.
KC11:
Yaris looked over with annoyance at
where Chengo, Zoom, and Josh were.
"Could you guys keep it down? I'm
trying to think." she asked
irritably.
Meanwhile, Marvis was resting in her
cot. She stared up at the wooden
ceiling, listening to the footsteps
above.
Yes, it was going to be interesting,
with her cousin as the Technician.
Marvis herself had always wanted to
learn that sort of path, but she just
didn't quite have the knack for it.
She turned over in her cot, making it
swing and creak slightly.
Spray:
Searching high and low, Slanger could
not find his way to the deck in the
huddled masses of the passengers.
Retracing his steps to area he was
before, he noticed from the corner of
his eye that the pirate still stood
there vigilant with the small child
by his side
"Excuse me sir, I'm lost, could you
help?" Slanger began the
conversation.
Beatfreak:
"Actually miss, I quite like the
sound of a storm." Zoom said
politely, as she turned towards Ty,
before seeing the apporaching Fallow
norn. "HI!" she shouted, making the
passangers around her wince.
"Sure....he cna help. I just
realized, I don't know your name. Or
yours. Or yours. Or yours." she said
turning and pointing at anyone and
everyone who was around her
Spray:
Slanger looked at the hyperactive
norn with dismay, not quite sure what
to make of his mannerisms. Crouching
to his level, he spoke "I'm Slanger,
who are you?" He tried to sound
polite, as he found people were much
more hospitable when you were polite.
KC11:
Yaris slammed her fist down on the
railing and turned to the group.
"SERIOUSLY." she yelled. "SHUT. UP.
Or are we planning on having a full
out bash party on deck before we
leave? Do you have to be TALKING all
the time? NO."
She then turned back to the railing
and continued looking out at the sea.
((ASPLOSION. . Gods, Yaris is so
touchy, it's fun.))
Beatfreak:
Wincing at Yaris's yelling Zoom
muttered, "Sheesh someone's in a
grump." Turning back to Slanger she
gave him a toothy grin. "My name's
Zoom. And somewhere around here is my
au pair Josh."
GM:
((Sorry about the wait. D8 And also
sorry about the short post.
Spray, I would recommend you pay at
least some attention to your grammar
- I'm not in the mood to go through
and edit out all the typos. Other
than that, it's nice to see someone
else is taking an interest in this.))
Aiofa had finally finished erecting
her little workplace out on the main
deck. In addition to the telescope,
there was also a desk, covered with
notebooks filled with star charts and
planet movements. Her actual office
was somewhere down below, so if it
happened to be stormy out she could
just work down there.
Suddenly, a loud foghorn blared out.
The doors closed, and the Hydra
lurched forwards. It was time -
finally time to take off. A smile
crossed the Magma bengal's face.
This trip shall be most
interesting.... she thought, as she
turned away to head for the dining
area in search of something to eat,
taking note of the fact that the deck
had turned into quite the crowd.
-------
The movement of the ship caused the
barrel of apples Ravana was digging
into to tilt over and spill out all
over the floor.
Halting quickly, the grendel looked
around, wondering if anyone heard the
racket that made. But when nobody
moved, he finished off another apple,
and then turned to look for an answer
to a better question: How the heck
was he supposed to get out of the
Cargo hold?
Getting out of this room was easy
enough - he merely had to shove open
the door and walk out into the main
area. But where to go from here was
beyond his knowledge....
Drac:
Chengo bristled at Yaris' shout,
baring his teeth and closing his
scarred eyelid. It made him look
scarier, but he didn't do it on
purpose. It was a habit. "Well, I'm
in the kind of mindset to-"
Tylrande glared at him. "Chengo!
Stabbing people is rude and
uncivilised!"
Chengo muttered under his breath and
turned to Slanger. "If you're lost,
there's maps stuck up on the walls
around the ship. I'm not sure where
the nearest one is, though." At that
he edged away, trying to escape his
aggravated cousin Tylrande.
Maraha:
((Oh man, I just noticed that I've
only posted once in the actual RP.
Gah I'm such a silly hypocrite.
xDDDDD Sorry gaiz, ILUtho.))
"Eep!" Eddaeck squeaked as she fell
when the ship lurched forward. Skye
stuck her arms out to the side to
steady herself. After that was over,
they both decided to stop randomly
wandering around the ship and went on
to visit the deck.
As they wandered up to the deck,
Eddaeck nearly squealed at the sight;
more people! Someone to share her
inedible barnacle sandwiches with!
She just couldn't contain her
excitement. It was when she began to
run forward that Skye grabbed her
shoulder, pulling her back. "Edd,
please stay calm, this is no place to
randomly spazz out."
"Skye?"
"Yes?"
"Where are we going?"
"I really don't know. Anywhere but
where we were before is good in my
book." She stepped over to the
railings, hands on hips, not really
looking at anything in particular. "I
just want to get out there. I can't
stay in one place for so incredibly
long, you know. All my life I've
wanted to travel..." She continued to
just stand there, looking almost
dazed now. Eddaeck just shrugged and
took a look around the deck, looking
for someone interesting to talk to;
Skye was beginning to get boring.
Spray:
(Sorry Grendel Man )
Slanger felt sorry for the small norn
his youthfull eyes brought much
sadness about him. "Come, We'll find
your Au Pair, he'll be here
somewhere" Said Slanger his
outstretched arm signaling For zoom
to hold. This childs matters were
more important than simple wondering.
"Coming?" he questioned his eye brows
lifted
KC11:
Eventually, Yaris got bored with
staring out. She heard the blast of
the foghorn and looked up. The Hydra
was about to leave.
Quickly, she pushed herself away from
the railing and looked around. She
could see other people wandering
about the deck. She wondered what she
was supposed to do.
She looked around until she saw
Chengo. Unaware that this was the
bengel whom she had upset, she walked
over and asked "Excuse me, but what
exactly am I supposed to do? I'm the
ship's technician."
((-_-))
Spray:
Slanger stood for a few silent
moments, his hand outstretched. It
seemed like minutes, "well?" he asked
again. However something caught his
eye, something he had thought he left
behind. Slanger stood rigid unable to
speak. A rush of fear and anger came
over him. He froze to the spot...
Beatfreak:
((Sorry!))
Zoom bit her lip as she looked at the
out stretched hand. Sighing she took
hold of it and nodded; she might as
well return to Josh as she was
getting bored.
"What's wrong?" she asked as she saw
him freeze
Spray:
Slanger had not tme to explain
hastily he flung zoom onto his back
in a sort of piggy-back ride position
as not to alarm the young infant.
"Let's go" he said trying to conceal
his fear. Slanger began to think were
would an au pair be?. This came to
little avail. "do you have any idea
where he is?" he questioned
KC11:
Yaris walked up to Chengo and tapped
him roughly on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, are you deaf?" she asked.
"What the hell am I supposed to be
doing? Fixing something? Checking
something? HELLO?"
((I feel kinda bad. I just reread the
posts I made in the second part of
the Creatures Porodium. D:))
Beatfreak:
"Try the front deck. Maybe the captin
can tell you where to go." Zoom
yelled to Yaris as Slanger lifted her
onto his back. "And maybe he's in the
cabins. Really you don't need to
carry me, I've got my own two legs.
And I'm fast." she added
Drac:
((hey hey, wait until I post! D:))
Chengo turned to face the Draconian,
eyeing her glumly. "Technician huh?
Well, you've got a fairly easy job.
All you have to do is check the
running parts of the ship, especially
the engines, and fix 'em if they
break." He ran a hand through his
hair tiredly. Confronting Tylrande
always wore him out. "I'm Chengo,
hired mercenary. I'll be on the front
line if the ship gets attacked, which
is quite likely. Pirates won't be
able to resist a ship this size." He
gave a slightly sly grin. "I ought to
know how their minds work, being one
myself."
KC11:
"Pirate?"
Yaris stared at Chengo, seeing the
scars, the battle wounds, everything.
She narrowed her eyes, backing away,
shaking her head. Then, when she was
a certain distance away, she turned
and ran back to the lower areas,
slamming the door as she went.
"Mavis! Mavis!"
Yaris jumped the stairs two at a
time, rushing down to the ship's
underground. She turned the corner
and ran until she found Mavis's
hanging cot, where she lay asleep.
"WAKE UP!" yelled Yaris, pushing the
cot over. Mavis thumped out of the
cot and scrambled to her feet.
"Geez cousin, what's gotten you?"
asked Mavis.
"There's a PIRATE on board!" said
Yaris, pointing upward. "I just asked
this one norn what my duties were as
a technician, and he told me and all,
but then he told me he was a PIRATE."
"What'd he look like?" asked Mavis.
"Bengal, lots of scars, generally
unpleasent." said Yaris, shrugging.
"What does that matter? The point is,
there's a pirate running this
operation!"
"I've heard about this sort of
thing." said Mavis. "They hire
pirates to help onboard because of
their.... good navigation skills I
believe? But they're usually
reformed, or mostly reformed pirates.
I wouldn't worry."
Mavis yawned and climbed back into
her bunk. Yaris glared at her.
"You won't be saying that WHEN HE
CUTS YOUR THOAT." said Yaris. She
then marched off into the bowels of
the ship.
Spray:
In all the fear Slanger had failed to
realise what he was doing. After
walking a few paces in the suggested
direction of the cabin, Slanger
lowered the small norn. "i'm realy
sorry for that" He said awkwardly.
Slanger knew what he had seen but it
was no reason for alarming others
especialy as he knew they wanted him.
"so... What's your buisiness om this
ship?" he asked zoom trying to start
a converstaion.
GM:
Just before Aiofa disappeared below
deck, she took one last glance at the
deck. One norn - who appeared to be a
fallow - was spazzing
about...something, but before she
could see the rest of it, some
draconian ran past, nearly running
the Magma Bengal over.
"Hey! Watch it!" she snarled, but the
draconian was gone before she even
opened her mouth. Which brought up
the question: What was she so rushed
for?
She turned back, her eyes finally
settling on a certain battle-scared
bengal. When she did, something about
him made her feel...uneasy, to say
the least. However, perhaps he knew a
thing or two about this ship....
She turned around and approached him,
taking note of the fact that it was
beginning to get late.
"Excuse me, sir. Would you happen to
know where the dining hall is?" she
asked of Chengo.
------
As Ravana looked around the main
chamber, it didn't take him long to
see the catwalk high above him. That,
he guessed, was where he was supposed
to go. But, how to get up there....
His question was answered suddenly
when a pair of norns, obviously down
here to collect food supplies, opened
a previously hidden door on the other
side of the room.
Quickly, the grendel looked around,
trying to find a place to hide. Too
late - they noticed him. The two
gasped, dropped whatever they were
carrying, and turned right back
around to perhaps alert the rest of
the ship of his presence.
Well, no way he was going to let that
happen. With one swift motion, he
cast a disc that appeared to be made
of ice mixed with energy in one
norn's direction. It homed in, and
when it made contact it made no
visible wound, but the norn fell dead
in an instant.
His partner saw what happened, but
instead of running was transfixed
with fear, only able to stare as
Ravana thundered towards him.
The grendel halted right in front of
the norn, and then grasped his throat
and hoisted him into the air. "Don't
think you're getting away scot-free
now." he snarled, before dropping the
norn and slicing his throat open with
a single slash of his spear.
Snorting, Ravana then turned around
and proceeded to climb the stairs
past the door. Before too long, his
mission would be accomplished....
Beatfreak:
"I'm not really sure. My parents just
disappeared one day, leaving me with
Josh. They left instructions to come
aboard this voyage and continue from
here." Zoom said with a shrug before
looking up at the taller norn she
asked, "what's your story?"
Drac:
Chengo watched the norn run off,
utterly confused. Did he say
something wrong?
When he heard another voice, he
turned. It seemed he had some sort of
air of authority; everyone was asking
him what to do. "The staff dining
hall's at the rear of the ship, third
level, if I'm right in guessing
you're on the crew." He replied. "I
was going to head there myself in a
moment anyway."
Spray:
Slanger felt uneasy but he was
begining to like this 'zoom'. He
seemed friendly and that was a
characteristic missing in many these
days. "well" he said then paused
trying to fight back the small tear
that swelled in the corner of his
eye.
"I Lived in the Ashen Forest in
what's called a glade. It was
wonderful, The seasons were portrayed
as something out of a dream the Local
tavern always full of the finest ale
and stories. I had a family, Mother
and father. Both were kind
warm-hearted folk. Then one day a
certain cult called 'Truth and
Knowledge' sold our Glade to a bunch
of Grendels. I fled for my life but i
remember one thing... One was able to
shoot ice, that killed my mother. My
father fled never seen him since."
Slanger felt the awkward silence
prick his fur. "anyway isn't this the
cabin?" he questioned
