No, don't jump to conclusions just yet!
Well, I've been having SERIOUS difficulties getting online lately, while everyone else has obviously not had the same problems. Today it took me an hour to log in, that's definitely not fair. This place is becoming really hard for me to manage, so I'm considering closing it down and starting a new forum with a clean slate (and graphics that load much faster). If I do that (huge IF here) I'll give everyone on TOCAF a month to move over before the place closes for good. I can't do anything about all the old threads and RPs here unfortunately, unless anyone happens to have them backed up, but to be honest TOCAF RPs have gone downhill anyway. The good old days of Creaturesporidium and The Palace are gone, it seems XP If I start up a new forum, it'll probably be vaguely Malurien themed for the sake of familiarity and giving myself lots to work with. I'll also need a new bunch of super-reliable staff. GM's a great admin, but the moderators had a few hiccups in the past. There was a reason I stopped you guys from being able to edit posts, you know ;P It'll be much better quality too, you know, nicer graphics, better setup, etc...
But I want to know what you all think. If you like TOCAF the way it is, that's fine, I'm just sick of dragging my sorry ass on here and it takes me all night to check up on this place, only to find that there's only a few new posts anyway.

I think you should set a clean slate and start all over again.
As of now, there are only half a dozen people active, so when others come back or join, they'll be greeted by a brand new, shiny page.
And if you want me to, I'll go ahead and start working on brand new graphics. They will be minimalist, though.

If it takes you an hour to log in, then it sounds like a clean slate is the way to go.
A shame about the games and RPs, but we can always re-start those.

Ah, a clean slate sounds like a good idea. My sentimental side is screeching and fighting right now tho, LOL. So, I'm just assuming there's no way to back up the entire ego script/table/evil game/etc etc, is there...?

I say make a new forum and make this one read only. That way we won't lose anything.
Edit: Also, plans for new forum here:
These are the original subsections:
Rules Announcments News Club Albia Greetings Blogs Creatures General Help RPGs Other Games Randomesque Poll Board Art Writings Songs Staff Members
What I suggest is combining "songs" with "writings", making a "suggestions" area for TOCAF (perhapes absorbing the Club Albia section into the midst) and perhaps completely removing the Creatures sections. Make several sub boards in "randomesque" for video games, books, movies, what have you. More sub boards would also help the situation. Oh yeah, and remove blogs.
The end result should be this:
Rules Announcments News Suggestions Greetings Help RPGs -Various subboards Other Games Randomesque -Games -Books -Movies -Other things Poll Board Art Writings -Critique Staff Members

Actually, I really agree with KC11. Leave this read-only, (As long as it doesn't cost you money, of course) and then we can look back upon it should we need to.

I'm saying the same thing KC and Zerrer are - let's leave this one up, but make it read-only. That way, we won't have to worry about backing stuff up (unless whoever runs Proboards decides to shut it down in the same manner that Yahoo's shutting down Geocities, but that's another story). Also like everyone else, I say we go for the clean slate, but there's the issue of finding a free forum hoster. Several people (such as MML) went with InvisionFree (or whatever that was called, I forget the exact name), and Aitha Luna/Starbucks4Ever has a FreeForums forum, but besides that I've no clue on what to do there.

Can't we just stay with proboards? I don't see any problems with it.

Ah guys Drac told me that IF she creates the new one, she'll still keep this one going but under a lock. That way you get your read-only idea going. And Drac you already no my answer.

I was going to go for Proboards anyway, it's free after all XP I was actually going to completely change the layout for the new forum, and I was thinking of having a thing like on Blackstar where we have an 'evil' section and a 'good' section (although there won't be any actual webwars of course. hat's the reason I left the dojo) I'd also like a second admin, rather than a vice, because between my dad and my slow internet it's getting harder and harder for me to get online and keep this place managed. And I'll need moderators that won't constantly edit each other's posts. So, I'm starting the new staff sign ups now. I'm looking for an admin and two or three moderators for the time being, so if you're interested just say so and I'll start a poll. Ember started a thread for the new forum's name, and I'll start working on the forum graphics as soon as possible (I found that the 'save for web' feature in Photoshop can actually make images small without screwing them up) But if there's anyone here that's good at making emotes, feel free. Mine are way too big, and I can't draw on a scale any smaller than that

*raises hand for modship* For me, the senseless editing of one's posts only happens in KoA SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN AT ALL. ; Also, I might try my hand at emotes. Do they have to be norn based or could they be based on anything TOCAF-ish? Edit: I also like the evil/good section idea. Although... no forum warz? What about just RP warz? :<

*also raises hand for modship, albeit slower*
I'm on fairly regularly, so I may as well try my hand.

I'm already the Vice Admin, might as well apply for the second full-fledged admin position.
I suck at drawing, but I might take a shot at the emotes just because. Don't count on it, though.

I have another idea! Maybe when the new forum is up and running we can have a competition for the new emotes as a kick-off kind of thing. They'd be Malurien-themed like the forum I suppose, because Malurien is the 'world of everything' which means you could draw anything you want for them XD I'm also going to do some shameless advertising in my DA journal to see if anyone on there will want to join.

Seeing as I haven't had more than three people wanting to be mods so far, I won't start a poll yet. But if you still want to sign up go right ahead XD And GM wins being the new co-admin, hands down, because he did all the jobs on TOCAF I was too lazy to do :'D

My page loaded in about half a second. I think you needs better interwebs. EDIT: and I still can't do a lot of mod things. I can lock/sticky/delete threads, but not edit people's posts.

^Some people can't get better interwebz. The page isn't slow for me either, but since Drac is the admin, her logging in is top priority.

Um yeah about the interwebs thing, she lives in the rural region of New Zealand, meaning there's not a very good connection or anything. She can't even get broadband (ok so I can't spell). I live in the rural area as well, but there's parts where signal is blocked due to the hills etc etc
