This is a Creatures-Themed RPG that I've made twice, both at the Gameware forums while the RPG section was still up. And both times, it was successful (First one finished, second one got to 11 pages before dying out). And so, I shall bring it here and see how it does.
Remake #2 can be read here. The first and original one was lost in the Big Oops.
The plot:
This plot involves two Capillatas: One is home to grendels, the other to norns and ettins. The grendels, thinking the Norn Capillata belongs to them, want it, and having the same mentality as his subjects, the leader declares war on that ship. The norn ship, however, is, with some preparations, ready to fight tooth and nail to keep their home.
On the ships themselves:
Both are normal Capillatas, except for the Grendel Ship which has little light and is mostly dark.
The Norn Ship has the Norngardens, Nornulu, Terra Reborn, and The Abyss installed, while the Grendel Ship has Bug's Temple, Terra Pluvialis, and the Garbage Dump installed.
Characters:
Everybody has 2 characters: A Norn or an Ettin, and a Grendel. When designing your characters, you do not have to keep their powers within the normal limits of the game (provided, of course, that you don't go God Modding). For example, one of my characters is telekinetic and is able to shoot lightning bolts out his eyes.
And then I have my two characters:
Name: Zan
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Species: Ashura Magma/Draconian Norn
Appearance: Zan has the head and body of a magma norn, but the legs, arms, and tail of a draconian. He is blue in color.
Special Traits: Zan is able to lift objects with his mind. He is also able to shoot electricity out of his eyes, although he knows this is dangerous and rarely will use it unless really mad or its absolutely needed.
Personality: A bit of a wanderer. He is often found alone, and prefers to work out his problems by himself then by talking to others about it.
Other notes: Zan carries two slender-bladed swords with distintive hilts.
He has both Magma Ashura and Draconian genes, and so he has the traits of both. Like a magma ashura, Zan lives a very long life and ages slowly. Like a draconian, he prefers heat and has a critter diet.
Name: Geh Zong
Gender: Male
Species: Banshee Grendel
Appearance: Geh Zong is a pale white banshee, who always seems to have a dark aura around him. He seems slightly larger than a normal grendel, but that's not nessecarily true. His eyes are black in color. He lacks spines and a horn.
Special Traits: Geh Zong is able to go ethereal at will. While ethereal, he cannot be harmed physically and can only be hurt by magic of some sort. He is also skilled in controlling darkness, which he can use to drain the life away from his enemies or hinder their vision. In addition, this gives him the ability to use shadows to teleport.
Personality: While Geh Zong tends to keep to himself while on his ship, he is absolutely ruthless in combat and can strike down his foes easily. He commands his ship with an iron fist, and will not hesitate to use capital punishment on those who get out of line.
Other notes: Geh Zong is a born leader.
Both of my characters lead the Norn Ship and Grendel Ship respectively. Hopefully, no one has an issue with this.
And now, some plot to kick things off:
---------
The shadows of the Meso on board the ship of the Grendels gave the place an aura of menace. The only light coming from the stars out in space, the elevators creaky and almost non-functional, this was not a place norns would be able to call home.
And yet, creatures did live in such a place: the grendels. In fact, one representive of these sat on the meso's highest level - a pale white banshee grendel, with black eyes and with a dark aura around him.
This was Geh Zong, the powerful Grendel leader.
In front of him, there sat a parchment, lit by a nearby Corpse Candle. Next to him, the body of a dead astro norn lay sprawled out, a gash across its throat. Such a fate was common for creatures that opposed him.
Geh Zong used the blood of the fallen norn as ink, a sharpened, half-eaten yarn fruit as a pen. With this, he scrawled out a declaration of war.
On another ship, one that used to belong to him and his grendels, there lived a norn called Zan, whose parents Zong had ruthlessly murdered, and the norn himself he had pursued to finish the job.
When the norn first arrived, it was a place much like the ship he now sat in. However, it hadn't taken Zan long to chase out its grendelish inhabitants, restore its light sources, and clean it up to become a norn's paradise. Since then, many norns and ettins had moved in.
To Zong, what Zan had done was unacceptable. And there was only one obvious way to get the ship back: Through brute force.
And through brute force, he would attempt to seize what was once his - and the words of his declaration reflected that:
You have been a thorn in my side for the longest time, Norn. And with this last deed of yours, you have earned yourself nothing less than the worst.
Your ship, as you might now, was once mine. A nursury, was it, a place where the younger members of my forces could live and train in peace.
But you chased them out, and now my ship is a place for those disgusting norns and ettins. I will have my revenge, Norn.
And I will get it in a most satisfactory way: A war. A bloodbath, in which you and all your pathetic friends will die. And I will not only have what I lost all those years ago, I will also have finished a job I started long ago.
Signed,
Geh Zong
When he was finished, he rolled his parchment up, and tied it shut with a bramboo filament. Clutching it in his hands, he arose and walked off.
Now, I need someone to get this to that wretched Zan, he thought.
